When you have a dream… Been dreaming of creating this vision in our backyard since we first laid eyes on this lot, (that before video being our first time walking the backyard as new homeowners) and we could not be happier with the outcome!

Here we put in a pool, built a covered patio that reflects the style and interior of our home and added a balcony on top (coming off of the master bedroom.) We removed the bay windows and straightened out the wall so we could get more space for our pool with the set backs & a larger walkway while also creating more counter space for the kitchen on the interior. We replaced many of the windows and doors with custom pass through windows and added glass bi-fold doors (off both the patio & balcony.) We love that they open all the way up really giving us that indoor/outdoor feel. We added siding to this entire area, and ship lap to the ceilings in the covered areas. We ran a gas line, so we could install our professional grade bbq where it would be most functional (in between the pass through windows centering it with the heart of the kitchen on the interior.) We installed quartzite as the countertop on either side of the bbq and as our backsplash. We poured concrete as our pavers and installed turf surrounding them. We also installed a patch of turf off the patio, that we’ll eventually be putting a couple of lounge chairs on for sunbathing.

So much more to come to this area of our outdoor space… Including installation of our hanging porch swings and a custom fireplace on the far corner of the wrap around porch. (Also dying for the landscape to grow in) Plus LOTS of exciting things to come on our (much larger) side yard, (a pool house, dining area, built in firepit area, raised vegetable garden, turf for bocci & so much more) I hope you follow along to see the progress!

Here we opened up the archway in the entry, (making it taller and wider) we also opened up the area between the dining room, living room and kitchen, by knocking down those two existing walls.

We completely changed the layout of the kitchen to make it larger and more functional.

We added a wood burning fireplace in the living room and replaced many of the windows and doors throughout.

We tore out the carpet on the stairs and replaced the railing.

We changed the double wide hallway entering the master bedroom, to a single, so we could incorporate a laundry room in that space.

We then arched that entrance to the hallway to make it more grand.

We framed all the doors and windows with trim, did paneling to the walls and shiplap plus beams to the ceilings.

Finishing up with new flooring and paint, and then the final touches with lighting furniture & decor.

We LOVE the end result although I’m kicking myself for not doing a better job with the before’s… Hence the beginning of this reel. 🙈

Here we opened up the area between the dining room and kitchen, by knocking down that wall. We removed the bay window and straightened the wall which was the existing breakfast nook so we could expand the kitchen, making it almost twice the size. We completely changed the layout of the kitchen to make it not only larger but more functional for our family of 7. We moved the laundry room upstairs so we could put a wet bar and pantry in the space where the iron arched dooor is now. We replaced and added new windows to support our new cabinety. We framed all the doors and windows with trim, did paneling to the walls and shiplap plus beams to the ceilings. Finishing up with new flooring and paint, and then the final touches with lighting furniture & decor.

We LOVE the end result!

When you think outside the box and utilize every square inch of your home! 🙌🏻

Here we re framed the closet to support our custom arched built in. We really had to think outside the box as our stairs are directly above this closet, hence the slant (if you look closely at the top shelves of the built in.) I stressed on that but I’m glad we didn’t let it stop us, because it’s completely unnoticeable and one of my fave little areas! We replaced the flooring, added shiplap to the walls, ceiling, and inside of the shelves. We framed the built in and garage door with trim plus new paint all around. We added the same countertop that we have throughout our entire downstairs to make it look even more intentional and elevate the look.

Not only is this one of my favorite transformations in our home but it’s “THE” spot in the house as it’s where ALL the snacks are held… Chips in one drawer, crackers, popcorn & pretzels in another, trail mix, dried fruit & jerky in the other, & finally deserts and bars in the last one. (I shared this recently and saved it to my “organize” highlight if you’d like to see that more closely.
