If you were to walk through my home, you’d see pretty things, garbage-picked things, new things, clutter-y things, unfinished things, dirty things… And as much as that should bring me stress, it doesn’t. It’s a snapshot of truth from the story of my life right now. To say we’re busy in this season is putting it nicely. VERY nicely. We’re going everywhere, at all times; every minute of every day. And so… the ‘design things’ aren’t getting as much attention as they used to. It’s taking us a little longer to finish a project + we’ve crossed some off our list as they just aren’t important anymore.

Maybe the busy-ness comes from the world opening back up again + we’re excited to live life. Or maybe it’s because we have 3 kids in soccer, 5 pets, an unfinished house, 3 jobs, church + flat out LIVES to live. Whatever the reason, this season is a season. It has a beginning and an end. (THANK YOU JESUS.) That means we won’t be moving at this pace forever. And so. No guilt needed, only GRACE. Much needed grace.

Busy-ness is a choice. And in this crazy season, I pray that my heart leads me, not my head. I pray that I hold things loosely so ‘when’ they don’t work out how I want, I’m not all bent out of shape. I pray that I choose ‘living life’ versus ‘doing life’.

Oh how precious are the stories that are being written right now. 🤍

Would you believe me if I said I found this 2 year old RH slip-covered, linen couch on Facebook Marketplace??? Full price at RH is $3695. This girl paid $250. I literally Venmo’d the seller before even seeing it 🙈.

What would you have done? Am I a crazy girl??? 🥴😜

After 19 years of marriage, we finally updated our bed + bedding 👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨. Not sure why it took so long… but 💯 it was SO WORTH IT.

For the bed, I wanted upholstered as our last one was painted wood. Love the softness + the price point. The bedding is from Target, Pottery Barn + Goodwill 😳. Yep! I just said that a piece of our bedding came from a thrift store. But before you disown me, did you know that Target donates their new merch to local Goodwills? So the Casaluna quilt that snuggles up next to my face at night was thrifted… for $20 ya’ll… That’s $100 cheaper than full price 💃.

Cozy, luxurious + on trend doesn’t have to equal $$$$. It’s all about balance + thinking outside the box. 👍🏻

When you can’t thrift, buy from Target 😆. But seriously, thrifting is always my go-to, but these are sooooo hard to pass up!! The chalky/matte/textured goodness is calling to me!

These days I’ve been chasing simplicity. I think we ALL need even just a sliver of that right now. And in an effort to create that in my home, lots of “things” gotta go. And by things, I mean “small things that I still love but there’s too many of them which creates too much busyness which then brings me too much stress because my eyes are bouncing around everywhere”. 👍🏻😉 You get what I mean?
So... I swapped out all the little things + replaced them with larger, “like” items. And oh does it bring me joy. There’s a calmness in my spirit when I look at this cabinet now. ✨FALL 2020 Makeover Giveaway UPDATE ✨
What a beautiful time we had designing + installing this bedroom for Bree! When all was said + done, we didn’t want to leave the room because we loved it so much 🥰.
This room was a gift to a special 7 year old who has endured sooo much this past couple of months. Back in September, she had a sudden heart attack, followed by a stroke, followed by another heart attack, followed by a heart transplant. 😔 What a brave little girl to go through so, so much! And I’m thrilled beyond compare to share that she is recovering amazingly + is a walking miracle! Our hope + prayer is that this room brings a smile to her face + joy within her (new) heart as she arrives home. (Video to come soon!)
