Do you know what your love language is? Mine is 100% gifts. 😬 When the kids were younger, it was acts of service. I mean, help a young mama out 🙌🏻. But as of late, when my hubby brings me gifts, it fills my cup!
A women’s group that I’m in has been reading through the book Keep Your Love On by Danny Silk. SO. GOOD.
When Chris + I pastored, we actually took our congregation through a marriage series on this book. Him + I tag-teaming up there… Oh how I miss that.
So when this book was chosen, I was ELATED to refresh my heart.
One of the chapters is on love languages. Knowing what yours is is crucial to health. Knowing what your spouse’s is is crucial to a healthy marriage. I think mostly because you focus more on giving than receiving. ‘How can I bless my spouse using their language?’ Or… ‘How can I bless my kids using their language?’
The other day, my hubby came home from work + as he entered the house, he shouted, “CLOSE YOUR EYES!” (a gift receivers’ favorite words 😆)
A couple seconds later, I opened my eyes to the most beautiful + REAL cowhide rug. And in the colors I would actually choose!! WIN-WIN!!!
To some it’s just a rug… but to me, it’s an act of love (completely outside of his box) to show me (his bride of almost 19 years) that our flame still burns. 🔥
My cup overfloweth.
(Oh, + this rug is from a local business too. I tagged her profile if you want to check her out 😉. )
