Just taking a moment to appreciate how beautifully these custom shower curtains worked out in our English country inspired ensuite. This is a trick I will 100% be using again in other bathrooms. We’ve done our fair share of larger home projects around here, but if I’m being honest, it’s the tiny home projects that have my heart. Those little tweaks and changes that you make over time as you’re living in your spaces are what really make a house feel like home. There’s no way to rush the process; it has to come to you in little moments of inspiration and quiet experiments until one day you realize that you’ve landed on something that feels just right.

As I was working on bringing a bit of English country style charm to this ensuite last fall with the gallery walls and warm wood finishes, I had a moment where I suddenly felt that what was really needed to complete the space was a big hit of pattern in the form of a classic ticking stripe. It took me a while to find just the right ones, but when I saw these classic navy pinch pleat curtains from @neutralcurtains, I knew I had found just the thing. At some point along the way, we started trying to make our homes so “calm”, so perfectly on-trend that they all started to look the same. The result has been spaces with no distinguishing features whatsoever that don’t make us feel bad, necessarily, but instead lead us to feel absolutely nothing at all. Is this really what we meant to do?

Your home should be a reflection of you, and just like your personality, it needs layers. I love how a grouping of art lets you tell a little story on your walls and makes any space feel instantly more personal. You can tell a lot about someone by the art they choose to hang on their walls. What does this moody trio say about me? That’s the part that’s open to interpretation, and that’s what makes it interesting.
