If you’ve been following along with me for a while, you probably know that I don’t get “personal” on here very much. This is usually my happy place, my escape from the stress and weight of the world, my little bubble of all things pretty and inspiring. So the only reason I’m sharing this here today is because sometimes we all need a reminder that things aren’t always as perfect & pretty as they seem in these squares. ___ A couple weeks ago, just a day after finding out that we were having a baby girl, I suffered a miscarriage at 12 weeks. The days that have passed since then have been a blur of heartbreak, confusion and pain I could never have imagined. This is a pain so many of us have suffered, yet it feels like no one ever talks about it. Now I understand why, because even as a write this, I am overcome with grief just thinking about it. So I just wanted to say to all those who have been through this, you are not alone. I see you. I’m with you.💞 ___ As painful as this experience has been, I am so grateful for the important reminders it has brought to light for me. Life is so precious and fragile, and I’m beyond grateful for every moment I had with my baby girl, even though I never got to meet her and will never understand why she couldn’t stay. I’m enormously grateful for my boys and am reminded not to take any moment with them for granted. ___ Maybe the most important reminder for me in all this grief is to always be a little kinder than necessary, because you never know what someone is going through. After taking the last couple of weeks away, it was hard to come back to Instagram to find some very insensitive comments on my feed. Whether it’s a stranger on the street, someone on your Instagram feed, or someone you know well, let’s remember that we are all just human beings doing the best we can, and treat each other with patience, empathy and kindness.
