I evolved my skin routine to what my skin needs and try not to over do it. I avoid my retinoid on nights I use my exfoliating acids, and when my skin is feeling dehydrated, I skip it all and go straight to a barrier cream.

Hyperpigmentation is triggered by visible light as much as UV—and that’s where iron oxides come in. Unlike traditional sunscreens that mainly protect against UV, iron oxides protect against visible light, which is a major driver of stubborn pigmentation like melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). Tinted sunscreens and foundations containing iron oxides create a protective barrier that helps prevent dark spots from worsening while supporting treatment results.

If you’re treating hyperpigmentation, broad-spectrum SPF + iron oxides is essential—not optional.
