Interestingly enough — don’t we also tend to do that when we feel like God is silent? Or when our plans don’t quite work out as we had hoped? If we can just hold on, we will see that the stillness and uncertainty are a means to a far more glorious end. He’s proven it before. He leads us still. Alway has, always will.

Since the pandemic started, I’ve been seeing a rise in “individually plated” charcuterie displays — have you seen these?? 🍢 Well, being the sucker I am for charcuterie, I thought I’d try my hand at it! I mean, your guests basically grab their plate and mingle — so easy — and it helps to limit the number of touch points at the food table during cold and flu season. BRILLIANT.

But I think I would still offer a “motherboard” of sorts so that my guests can go back and get more of their favorites, you know? Tell me your thoughts — one big display? individual plates? a little bit of both? 🧀

PS: What’s in the cup, you ask? A festive little autumnal concoction I like to call “Thanksgria” 🍹 that you should totally try this Thanksgiving! Here’s the recipe…

1 750 ml Bottle White Wine chilled
1 cup Apple Cider chilled
1 cup Blackberries
1 Granny Smith apple
1 Honey Crisp Apple
1 Bartlett Pear
1 750 ml Bottle Prosecco (or dry sparkling white wine) chilled
10-12 Cinnamon sticks
10-12 whole Star Anise pieces

Grab a large pitcher, throw in all of the fruit and spices first, then top with the apple cider and wine, then add the Prosecco last. Stir and serve chilled!

Tip: Freeze the fruit first to maintain the chilled temperature! ❄️

It’s been a hot minute since I posted my scripture of the week! 📖 This is one of the first verses I learned as a kiddo. I memorized the words for a grade in elementary school and can still recite it on command, but it wasn’t until more recent years that I really *knew* the scripture.

So many times I try to “understand” why certain life events happen and I try to connect the dots like I’m Nancy Drew. But at the heart of this scripture is the fact that our understanding at any given time is so limited compared to God’s complete plan. He sees the good and the bad, the mystery and the obvious as a whole, all woven into a pattern for good.

He’s not asking us to try and figure it out first and then trust Him when we can’t solve the puzzle. He’s telling us to trust Him with ALL our heart; leave absolutely no room for “understanding” (which takes us down rabbit holes of assumptions, speculations, untruths and doubts until we’ve dug ourselves miles away from the path He’s laid out for us).

If we acknowledge that He is sovereign in every aspect of our life, we will more fully trust His plan and His directions, and He will only ever direct you down His good and perfectly straight path.

One of my favorite autumn-themed snacks to make is a little mix called “Harvest Hash”. 🧡 My sister introduced it to me a few years ago at my nephew’s birthday party and it’s been a seasonal staple in our family ever since! 🍂 The kiddos love the Mellowcreme pumpkins and candy corn, and I’ve noticed the grownups tend to pick out the Bugles and Reese’s Pieces! 😆 I’ve included the ingredients list below because the recipe is pretty much equal parts of everything — just start with a cup of each and add more as you like after that!

PS: If you caught my segment on HSN a couple weeks ago presenting Eco Serve, then you snuck a peak at my bottomless bowl of Harvest Hash! 🎃 I like serving it in these bowls because they are so deep AND if the kids handle them (and you know they will), they won’t break if dropped, even though they look like stoneware! Y’all. I’m seriously getting into this boho fedora trend! You’d tell me if it was a mistake though, right?!?!! 😆 This was me earlier this month, all dolled up to walk the @camillesofwilm bridal runway show in a gorgeous @maggiesotterodesigns bridal gown. 🤍

I hadn’t put on a wedding gown in over 12 years since marrying my sweetheart and, believe it or not, I’ve avoided it altogether over the last year while working at the bridal boutique. I’m not exactly in the shape I was on my wedding day (who is?!?!!) and I dreaded finding out what size I’d fit into now. I make it a point to speak life into bride after bride, but somehow I couldn’t muster up the courage to do the same for myself. But I sucked it up (and sucked it in, lol) and it turns out that my size wasn’t nearly as bad as I had built it up to be in my head!

Can I just tell you how freeing it actually was to step into those designer gowns for the first time in over a decade? Every curve was expertly sculpted, every bead sparkled beautifully and every inch of lace and tulle made me feel like I was floating on a cloud. I relived the magic of 12 years ago, how pretty I felt in that moment and how all I could think of was, “I can’t wait for Justin to see me in this dress”. THAT is what every bride should feel like when they’ve found “the one”. And that’s what I do every week!

BTW… Hypothetically, what if I told you that a favorite local boutique is working on a capsule collection of private label hats for all occasions?!?!! 🤩
