You’d be surprised what leftovers can be tossed into a salad! 🤣 Leftover roasted sweet potato “fries” cut up and thrown into romaine, radishes, extra sharp white cheddar, crushed croutons, and an apple/white balsamic vinaigrette = LUNCH!

For our newly renovated kitchen in 2024, we wanted to avoid the constantly-shifting shelf and drawer liner products we used in the past. The adhesive paper peeled up and looked dated. The non slip liner actually moved around and required cleaning underneath it.

This time around, we went with adhesive FELT liner that would stay in place even when using a hand vac! This liner pads noise, protects from scuffs, and looks great!

HOMEMADE LACTOSE-FREE
STRAWBERRY ICE CREAM!

I had about a pint of strawberries, perfect for a small batch of homemade strawberry ice cream!

I make all our homemade ice creams lactose free with @fairlife high protein lactose free milk and lactose free @organicvalley lactose free half and half. NOT sponsored 😆

->Strawberries (pulsed in a food processor)
->Add sugar and lemon juice, chill
->Mix in dairy and lemon zest
->Freeze!

(I keep the machine running while I portion to keep the ice cream from freezing to the bucket.)

Love my @cuisinart machine!

I'm making a salad for True Crime Club (think book club but for true crime documentaries) and thought it was a great time to highlight the usefulness of my #workstationsink.

I didn't think I needed a workstation sink with all the accessories since I believed I'd be working at our 16' island more. But when I have to do something mostly at the sink, THIS IS GREAT!

I honestly don't know how l lived without this huge sink before!

Having a trash can drawer right NEXT to the sink instead of underneath it is 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

HOMEMADE BUTTER PECAN ICE CREAM!

First time making custard-based ice cream! I usually make eggless but I'm testing some recipes that came with my new @cuisinart machine and the boys love #butterpecan #icecream so I thought, what the heck, let's do it!

LETMEJUSTTELLYOU this is so freakin' delishus and you may know of my addiction to homemade stracciatella gelato and this seriously competes!

I never thought I’d say these words but I LOVE MY SINK! I didn’t think I needed all these features but my designer picked it out and I can’t imagine life without it!

We weren’t able to install 2 separate sinks in my kitchen (I didn’t want a sink in the island) so we opted for YUGE with 2 faucets! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

PASTA NIGHT!

A refreshing and easy pasta dish that is in regular rotation in our kitchen is LO SPAGHETTO AL POMODORO! Crushed tomatoes, olive oil, flake salt, hot pasta and some pasta liquid. Give it a good toss and serve with burrata, fresh basil, and another drizzle of olive oil and sprinkle of flake salt. SO.GOOD!

And don’t forget the pasta puzzle for Pasta Night!

RAMEN NIGHT!

As a family of three, we all like different ramen with different noodle types! This means THREE pots just to boil our various noodles on ramen night. Add in the pork belly pan, a pot for the eggs, and a pan for any other add-ins? Ramen night turns our kitchen into a mess hall!

I found the solution that fits in our pot! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 A three-piece noodle/pasta separator !

We didn’t want the kitchen to have visibly separate work and dining areas but we did want these two areas to be specific and functional.

The back half by the patio has the bar on the left and buffet on the right, and that half of the island has seating on both sides.

This video highlights the buffet which has tons of storage for all things to entertain.

LACTOSE FREE PISTACHIO GELATO!

I upgraded from my old 1.5q ice cream maker to this 2q one so I had to test it out immediately!

Outside a bit more volume, they are pretty much the same machine: Freezer bowl, paddle, lid. HOWEVER, for some reason, this newer model freezes the ice cream better and more thoroughly! LOVE IT!

I made the Pistachio Ice Cream recipe in the accompanying booklet but subbed with @fairlife lactose free #highprotein whole milk and #lactosefree half-and-half.

SO.GOOD.

Got a new kitchen in Spring 2024! We wanted guests to be able to commune together and not be separated with a table and island combo so we went with a 16’ island that includes a work area and a dining area.

We also wanted a kitchen conducive to home omakase or cooking classes…

I worked on a #lactosefree #stracciatellagelato last year. Had all the right dairy in the beverage drawer so l was forced to make it again!

This is step 1: Make the base.
Sugar
@fairlife whole milk (lactose free AND high protein)
@organicvalley lactose free half-and-half
Warm to dissolve the sugar fully...
Chill overnight...

PART 2: The base has chilled overnight, now to make the #gelato!

While the base is freezing, melt the chocolate - I’ve found that the @bakerschocolate 66% Bittersweet has the perfect balance, not too bitter (@guittardchocolate’s 64% is also a fave), and both melt easily. I’ve done the double-boiler method and, honestly, microwaving it is just easier and returns a perfectly fine melt. To each her own.

Once the base is almost done, drizzle in the melted chocolate. This is the hard part - getting that fine drizzle! You don’t want chunks of chocolate - that FINE FLAKE is what makes #stracciatella a stracciatella.

Then, package in serving sizes for this week’s meal prep! 🙌🏼😂
