Junk drawers: we all have them. Maybe that’s not what you call yours, but I’ll bet it has a lot of the same stuff in it that mine has. Pens, pencils, rogue markers the kids didn’t put away properly, rubber bands, lighters, tape, glue, a few forgotten gift cards…sound familiar?

The best way to keep your junk drawer not junky at all is to create separation of the different items. Pens and pencils don’t belong with scissors or matches. Give each category its own little labeled space so you can see exactly what’s in your drawer and exactly where it should go. For that, I love acrylic drawer organizers and my good old fashioned label maker. Lately I have really liked the look of making labels on clear tape with white letters - it gives the label a more sophisticated, customized look. I’ve linked a bunch of drawer organizer options here so make sure you measure your drawer to find the right one for you! And pro tip: if you line your drawer with a grip liner, the acrylic bins won’t slide around every time you open and close the drawer 👍🏻

See this rug? I heard someone call it “the magic rug” once because it looks good anywhere and everywhere, and so far, I think that might be true. I purchased a small version for my bathroom a while ago and when I was looking for an area rug for my tiny house, I knew the magic rug would be just right. I paired it with a rug pad to both keep it in place and also add a little extra cushion, and I couldn’t be happier. Since our tiny house is…tiny…we needed to find a refrigerator that was the correct scale for the space, but that wasn’t one of those impossibly small hotel fridges. We host a lot here, and we hope that soon many families will be enjoying this space for weekends/weeks away, and for those scenarios, fridge space matters!

This fridge was exactly what we needed and would make a great addition to a garage or basement as a secondary fridge for a large family, or to consider for a smaller home like an apartment.

I love hosting, and when we’re hosting at the tiny house, we have found that the most practical way to keep our cutlery organized is by using this cute caddy. We don’t have the drawer space to have a utensil drawer, and we’re often eating outside, so keeping everything contained to this transportable caddy is far more practical than trying to find a fixed space in the tiny house to store forks and knives just so we can carry them outside when we want to use them.

I love these little armed sconces that we mounted in our tiny house. They add just the right amount of soft lighting to the area above the daybed, and add a bit of decor to the walls. Table lamps and floor lamps require…well…tables and floors, so wall sconces are a great way to utilize that vertical space on your walls when floor real estate is at an ultimate premium.

We are on the tail end of renovating a tiny house that my family has on some land near where we live. I have all sorts of plans for this little house, and they all involve hospitality. Nothing is more hospitable than offering a guest a beverage or making coffee readily available for overnight guests, which is why I love the ease and convenience of a Keurig coffee machine. If I’m at the tiny house all by myself, I don’t have to bother with making a full pot of coffee for just me, and when I have multiple guests for the day or overnight, everyone gets to customize their own drink to their preference. Not only was this client a dream to work with, but her closet had SO much potential. With some key products, we were able to get this closet looking like a retail store. What especially made things POP was the use of clear acrylic bins for the items on the shelves. Keeping the materials clear allows for a lot of light to bounce around in the room (opaque containers can really close in a space), and keeps the items visible for the client. We love the look of white labels on these clear bins, and have linked some options for you in case you don’t have a label maker, or just want something a little fancy.

This shared boys closet needed some help…ok it needed a full excavation. Sometimes a space needs that, and that’s our job. We get in there and dig out the diamond in the rough and we hand you the tools to maintain it - that’s what chaos resilience is all about. For this particular closet, the key items necessary for maintaining order are matching hangers and some large white bins for categories of things that could not/should not be hung. After a hearty purge and labeling our work, this family can now easily keep this closet in shape 🙌🏻

This Paducah, KY closet presented some challenges for us. To start, it belongs to a little boy with limited mobility in one of his hands, making folding and hanging clothes difficult for him to maintain on his own. We wanted to create a space that he could keep tidy without constantly having to ask for help, which is why we significantly paired down his clothes that needed to be hung (mom did an excellent job purging), and purchased a cubby unit with canvas bins that he could easily pull in and out to access his clothes. We labeled the bins to help him remember where everything goes. He was SO excited about his new closet - so much so that he asked his mom if he could keep his Air Jordans (a prized possession) on the shelf in the closet. Recently I tidied my son’s closet, and my typical tip for fitting shoes on a shelf (alternating the direction of each shoe) wasn’t doing the trick for his shoe + shelf combo.
