I went shopping and here’s what I recommend: a floral midi skirt that you can dress up or even make more casual, a pair of wide leg burnout velvet pants that fit so well and flatter, the viral Colette pant with pretty bows on the pockets, and sweaters too. Need gift ideas? Gotcha!

There’s a trend going around of putting a sweater over a dress and that’s what we’re doing here. This is a two piece set. I wasn’t sure about it on the hanger, but I put it on and I loved it. If you don’t like showing a lot of skin and you’re not a “dressy-dress” kind of woman, this elegant set might be for you! I’m wearing a small true to size, but I’m thinking I might have even been able to do an extra small so maybe try two sizes!

I pulled together my favorite J.Crew Factory pieces to give you effortless, festive-casual outfits for the holidays. Velvet, metallic thread, classic denim, faux leather, and just enough sparkle. Every look feels seasonal but still grounded—something you’d actually wear to dinners, house parties, school events, or low-key gatherings.

Everything is true to size (small) EXCEPT the “faux” suede skirt. I sized up to an 8P (typically a 4/6) to accommodate my hips and 5’4” stature. If your bottom isn’t as big as mine, you’re probably fine just sizing up one size. The JRB Lippie is Ruby.

These brushed silver velvet pants from Frame are a crowd favorite. By the way, they're NOT a one-hit wonder! Here are a few more pieces I'd style them with. It turned out that the pieces I found for these are all under $100. Wear them to dinner, to a friend's holiday party. I'd even pair them with ankle boots and an oversized sweater.

P.S. they come in other colors too, if silver isn't your thing. I've also linked a few less costly pairs of timeless velvet pants, too!

Everything I’m wearing is true to size! The velvet pants in the 27 (I’m a 4/6) were a little bit snug on me when I first put them on, but they quickly softened and molded to my body. All of the tops are a size small, true to size.
