😂 I love my roller sets but newborn life means having to pivot to a quicker option for getting this head of hair together lol I even washed & dried my hair the day before but ended up throwing it in a bun because - #postpartum lol

The first bath is always the sweetest 🥰🥹🧼🛁🫧👶🏽🍼

With this being my 5th baby, here are a few tips to make this moment as relaxed and enjoyable as possible for baby (and you!)

1. Feed/Nurse your baby right before you strip them down

2. Keep them wrapped up in a towel or muslin cloth in and outside the tub because they don’t like being cold and still need help regulating their own body temperature at this newborn stage!

3. If you’ve got some breastmilk pumped, add it to their bath water! It’s great for their skin 😊

4. Skip bubble bath and any heavily scented skincare products. Simple natural fragrances like chamomile/lavender are good because they have soothing properties but you want to be very careful as baby’s skin is sensitive and still learning how to accommodate the outside world!

5. Give baby a nice massage to help them relax and also stretch out their limbs!

6. Be ready to nurse/feed right after baby is dressed and be prepared for them to get some GOOD GOOD sleep 🥰💤

24 hours after having another unmedicated water birth at home 🥹🥰 Still in awe that this is real life!

One of my most frequently asked questions is “how do you maintain your roller set through the week?”

And this is it! I just roll my hair up in 3, sometimes 4 @overnightblowout rods like this and put a silk scarf on! No added products unless I need a dry shampoo or if my hair starts to frizz/feel dry I’ll add some oil to my ends but that’s pretty rare if my initial styling session goes well! My roller sets are such a low maintenance hairstyle and as a busy wife & mom, I understand why the women in generations before us stayed in a roller set!!

When was the first time you did or got your daughter’s hair flat ironed / silk pressed?!

My daughter is now 6 years old and I’ve done this maybe twice and have done a couple roller sets on her too! We love to play in different hairstyles and had been rocking two strand mini twists all fall & winter so I wanted to give her a good trim before giving her a fresh protective style (we did mini braids after this!)

These #hairrollers are pretty easy to find (and affordable!) so I wanted to share a detailed breakdown of how you can use them on your natural hair! (I used 18 rollers for my whole head!)

I have officially converted my sister to the roller set crew! (now granted, I don’t know who got the better end of this deal at this point because this also means that I’m going to be doing her roller sets regularly lol)

Nonetheless, I love doing roller sets on different hair types to just learn and gain more experience so that I have more tips and tricks to share with you all and this time it dawned on me to use @ilovethedoux #gangstawrap foam for her roller set when normally I don’t use foam for my roller set and it was such a game changer for her hair!

Her hair is a bit dry and has some chemical damage from coloring her hair regularly so it’s harder for her hair to stay wet while we roll so the foam comes in and really helps her hair stay really wet and juicy throughout the entire wet roller setting process. This is how we get really smooth and shiny results when the rollers are ready to be taken down!

Wash day due in 3-2-1…✨ The easiest hair routine by FAR I’ve ever had!

Day 1: Wash & Roller Set (Wet Set under the hooded dryer 😉)
Day 2 - 7: Use @overnightblowout rods at night & wrap with a scarf. Take down each morning & GO!
Day 8: Had an event so I lightly touched up my edges/perimeter that had reverted a little. No major restyling though! Only products added through the week is heat protectant & hair spray - no oils or creams 🙏🏽

I’ve got a maintenance appointment with my hairstylist @oliviadavis.hair for a trim & treatment! I go every 8 weeks or so 😉✨

Yall my beloved hooded dryer took its last breath 30 minutes into my last roller set session 😭😭😭😭 RIP!!

I actually used to do this a lot when I was first tryin to figure out how long I needed to sit under the dryer for my hair to fully dry and what product combinations worked best for my hair type.
