Shadow Liner (+ half up hairstyle!)⁣

It took me until my late 20’s to realize I actually like my makeup better without the harsh cat eye liquid liner. But don’t mistake that for me not loving liner all together. ⁣
⁣
I started using eyeshadow (and the color didn’t even matter) as eyeshadow, and not only was it a softer look, it actually took me less time to get ready! ⁣
⁣
For my hazel eyes, I prefer earthy colors to make my eyes pop...so when I found the petite heat pallet by @urbandecaycosmetics I was thrilled. (If you’ve watched all my videos you’d know I’ve used this pallet quite a bit!) ⁣

Fun story, one of my SIL’s, @shancecil, has asked me to do her makeup for as long as I can remember. I always try to use her stuff (because she buys the best stuff) so that she knows how to use it when I’m not around...and on multiple occasions I would hold one of her pallets and say “and what do you use to apply this color?” and with a *please don’t judge me* look on her face she would respond, “with my finger?” Love you, Shan. ⁣⁣

Point being, I know you girls are out there and I know deep down you want to learn! Best way to do that is to incorporate steps where you already feel comfortable.⁣⁣

Are you a “I apply my eyeshadow with my finger” type of girl? ⁣

For the longest time, I didn’t even realize how many people do this. To me, brushes are one of the things that makes makeup feel like art. I love brushes and I love cleaning my brushes (I’ll save that for another video!) ⁣
⁣
Brushes used to intimidate me because I would think “what do I use this for?” or “I don’t think I’m using this right, someone is going to judge me.” WHAT. ⁣
⁣
I’m a grown woman now and I could care less about a lot of things that used to worry me...like above’s nonsense. Now I use brushes how I want to, because the beauty of art is that YOU ARE THE ARTIST. You get to choose.⁣
⁣
With that being said, it does help to have a little knowledge on what brushes to use and where but again, there aren’t really RULES. And for you finger users, this look may be more in your comfort zone because one of the few steps is using your finger! ⁣
⁣
And even thought I don’t want to admit this, you could even leave out every step except the finger brush and get a more natural looking version of this...but I encourage you to put some brushes in your hand and familiarize yourself with them because in the long run it can help you with more difficult looks!⁣

Here’s the tea sis, if you’re messy when applying eyeshadow, doing your eye makeup BEFORE your foundation/concealer will give you a much cleaner look with this easy trick... ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Do your eyes first. Make a mess under your eyes if that’s what it takes. It doesn’t matter because you don’t have any foundation on and you can easily take micellar water/makeup remover and a gauze pad to clean up the mess so that when you apply your foundation/concealer, there isn’t anything there making you look like you have bags or dark circles under your eyes!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Clean up is simple:⁣⁣
•Take a gauze pad and your favorite micellar water/makeup remover and douse the pad⁣⁣
•Fold the pad in half so you have a sharp line to work with and also so you can use it for both eyes⁣⁣
•Gently wipe from inner under eye area towards the outer, without pressing or pulling too hard! (Remember that this area of your skin is very delicate and prone to wrinkles so you don’t want to be tugging on it!) ⁣⁣
•Flip gauze pad to the clean side and repeat the last step on the other side of your face⁣⁣
•Wipe up any excess shadow you see that has fallen on your cheeks/nose/chin⁣⁣
•Apply your foundation/concealer⁣⁣
⁣⁣
And just for the record, this process is also great if you want to sharpen and even up those winged eyeliner corners, if that’s the look you’ve created!⁣⁣
