Sometimes following your calling doesn’t mean starting over. It means taking everything you’ve learned and using it to create something that didn’t exist before. Before Jess Bonilla Beauty, I was a science teacher. When I changed careers, I didn’t leave that version of myself behind. I brought the discipline, preparation, patience, leadership, and high standards with me. I used those skills to build a company that doesn’t only create beautiful work. It gives brides a better experience, creates opportunities for other artists, supports my family, and continues raising the standard in an industry I deeply believe in. Doing Gaby’s bridal makeup—years after having her as one of my students—was a reminder that nothing we learn is wasted. Every chapter prepares us for the next one, even when we can’t see how everything will connect yet. You’re allowed to reinvent yourself. You’re allowed to follow the calling that keeps pulling you in a different direction. And you’re allowed to take everything you’ve learned and use it to build something even bigger. Maybe you’re not starting over. Maybe you’ve been preparing for this the entire time. 🤍 Have you ever felt called to completely reinvent yourself?
