I’m about to ruffle some feathers 🪶😅 but here are 3 things I hate in home decor (and how to fix them 👀)—comment “home” to shop frames, light bulbs, & olive trees🫶🏼

1️⃣ Olive trees – I love them in theory, but we’ve gotten out of hand 😭 The key is finding one that’s full and realistic — not tall, skinny, and sad looking. You want something that actually brings life and movement to your space. I linked some of my faves that actually look good 👏

2️⃣ Lightbulbs – Hear me out: lighting can make or break your home. If your space feels like an operating room, it’s time to turn off the overheads 🙈 Stick to warm, cozy lamps and soft lighting instead — it changes everything.

3️⃣ Family gallery walls – Controversial, I know 😬 but they’re really hard to get right. If you’re going to do it, make sure your frames have mats, the photos are all in the same tone or section, and PLEASE hang them straight.

Which one do you agree with most?! 👇✨

The most common home decor mistake I see all the time?
Rug sizing.

So many people buy rugs that are way too small for their space, and it instantly makes the entire room feel off.

A rug should anchor your furniture, not float in the middle of the room like a postage stamp. In most living rooms, that means going big enough for at least the front legs of your furniture to sit on the rug — and ideally all of it.

When in doubt, size up.
A larger rug will always make your room feel more intentional, more elevated, and honestly… just more designer.

Save this for the next time you’re rug shopping. 🏡✨

How to Make a Small Bedroom Feel Bigger

Small bedrooms can still feel spacious — it’s all about using a few smart design tricks that visually expand the room.
	1.	Start with an oversized rug
Even in a small bedroom, a larger rug actually makes the space feel bigger. It extends the visual footprint of the room and pulls the eye outward, which creates the illusion of more floor space.
	2.	Choose larger nightstands
Skip the tiny bedside tables. I love using three-drawer dressers as nightstands — they add storage and create beautiful symmetry on both sides of the bed, which instantly makes the room feel more intentional and balanced.
	3.	Add mirrors beside the bed
Mirrors are one of the easiest ways to open up a space. Placing them near the nightstands reflects light around the room and helps brighten darker corners.
	4.	Go for oversized table lamps
If there’s one thing I’d upgrade, it’s this. Larger lamps add height, presence, and soft ambient lighting, which makes the room feel airy instead of cramped.
	5.	Hang curtains at the ceiling
Mounting curtains at ceiling height draws the eye upward and instantly makes the ceilings feel taller. For an extra vertical moment, add a tall olive tree in the corner to bring even more height into the space.

Interior design hot takes… you’ll either be nodding your head or typing a paragraph in the comments 👀

Some of these might be controversial, but good design isn’t about following every trend — it’s about creating a home that actually works and feels good to live in.

Let’s hear it… which ones do you agree with and which ones are you side-eyeing? 🫣🏡

Spring 2026 is bringing a fresh wave of design trends, and honestly… they’re some of my favorites yet. 🌿

Think lighter layers, more personality, and homes that feel collected rather than perfectly curated. This season I’m seeing a big shift toward warm neutrals, natural textures, vintage-inspired pieces, and little details that make a space feel lived-in and special.

In this video I’m sharing the spring decor trends I’m loving most for 2026 and the small ways you can incorporate them into your home without a full makeover.

Because sometimes the best seasonal refresh is just switching a few things out and letting your home breathe again. ✨

Save this for when you’re ready to give your space a little spring update. 🌷
