Unpopular opinion: I love open-concept homes 😌✨
I know they’re not everyone’s favorite, but when they’re done right, they feel airy, inviting, and effortless.
Here’s how to decorate one like a pro 👇

1️⃣ Pick a color palette and stick to it religiously.
If decorating isn’t your strong suit, neutrals are your best friend — they’ll instantly make your space feel cohesive and calm.

2️⃣ Use area rugs to define spaces.
This is the most important part. Without them, everything blends together and feels like one giant room. I always recommend XL rugs in open-concept layouts.

3️⃣ Layer in lamps.
The biggest mistake people make is skipping lighting — you need multiple lamps to keep things cozy instead of sterile.

4️⃣ Think about walkability.
Since it’s one large space, you should be able to move around easily. Keep pathways open and your furniture layout intentional.

If you do these four things, your open floor plan won’t feel like a warehouse — it’ll feel like a dream home. 🤍

1️⃣ Funky lampshades — If your lamps feel a little boring, swap the shade! Pattern, pleats, or scalloped edges instantly make them feel designer.
2️⃣ Fabric-covered mats — A DIY favorite! Wrapping your photo mats in patterned fabric adds so much texture + color to a gallery wall.
3️⃣ Sconces — So underused! There are tons of wall sconces that work with rechargeable puck lights — no hardwiring needed.
4️⃣ Patterned curtains — Step away from plain white! Patterned or colored curtains (even café curtains in the kitchen!) bring so much life and warmth.
5️⃣ Statement furniture — This one’s an investment, but I love when accent chairs or side tables are a little funky. They instantly give your space character.

Some people have niche obsessions with Taylor Swift. Some people love birds.
Mine? Small boutique hotels — and the interior design inside them. 🫶🏼✨

One of my absolute favorites sits in Lake Como, Italy: Passalacqua. The history alone is breathtaking — at one point, it was home to Pope Innocent XI, and it’s now been restored into a 24-room boutique hotel that feels less like an overnight stay and more like a life-changing experience. 🕊️🇮🇹

I’m endlessly inspired by the European architecture and Italian interior design — it’s truly one of the most stunning places on Earth.

I’m about to ruffle some feathers 🪶😅 but here are 3 things I hate in home decor (and how to fix them 👀):

1️⃣ Olive trees – I love them in theory, but we’ve gotten out of hand 😭 The key is finding one that’s full and realistic — not tall, skinny, and sad looking. You want something that actually brings life and movement to your space. I linked some of my faves that actually look good 👏

2️⃣ Lightbulbs – Hear me out: lighting can make or break your home. If your space feels like an operating room, it’s time to turn off the overheads 🙈 Stick to warm, cozy lamps and soft lighting instead — it changes everything.

3️⃣ Family gallery walls – Controversial, I know 😬 but they’re really hard to get right. If you’re going to do it, make sure your frames have mats, the photos are all in the same tone or section, and PLEASE hang them straight.

I hate to tell you this… but some of y’all stink 🫣👕✨
If your towels smell like mildew, or your clothes never come out fresh—your laundry routine is the problem, not your nose.
Here’s the combo you actually need (cheap + effective):
1️⃣ Skip the “fancy” stuff and go with a good detergent.
2️⃣ Replace softeners with white vinegar (seriously—game changer).
3️⃣ Add borax. It disinfects + deep cleans like nothing else.
Bonus if you’re a little bougie like me:
🌸 Scent beads — Bath & Body Works Flannel for cozy fall vibes, or Palo Santo if you want that clean, aesthetic “Le Labo” energy.
🌀 Toss the dryer sheets — use dryer balls instead! Add a few drops of essential oils (lavender, citrus, eucalyptus… I rotate them weekly).

3 Common Home Decor Mistakes (and how to fix them!) 🤭✨
🌸 Curtains hung too low — Raise your rods 6–12 inches above the window frame (or all the way to the ceiling) to instantly make your ceilings feel taller.
💕 Rugs that are too small — Layer an affordable jute base with a stylish rug on top. It adds the right scale and gives that designer look.
🌤️ Skipping paint samples — That swatch in the store won’t look the same at home. Always test samples on different walls and check them throughout the day.
