Weeks 13 and 14 of 2026 Weekly

Had some rough pain days in here so I didn’t do a lot and I combined the weeks in 1 post!

1️⃣ Hematology appointment
2️⃣ PCP, after which an x-ray showed stress fractures in 3 bones
3️⃣ Tea and cross-stitching

2️⃣ Kate takes a selfie in a doctor’s office. She’s a white woman with auburn hair wearing a black t-shirt, silver Celtic knot necklace, apricot mask, and green glasses.
3️⃣ Looking at a table on which is an orchid, an in-progress cross-stitch project, and a mug of tea.

PREPARING FOR SUMMER WITH POTS⁣
⁣
Summer is right around the corner. Here are somethings I'm doing now to make it easier. ⁣
⁣
1️⃣ Finding my many fans and making sure they're charged⁣
2️⃣ Increasing my sodium intake ⁣
3️⃣ Making sure I have plenty of @cure, my preferred electrolyte supplement⁣
4️⃣ Getting back into the habit of using Tachymon, the app I use on my watch as pictured here. I have it set to notify me not only when my heart rate gets high, but also when it has changed by a fair amount. Here, it shows my heart rate is 150 and the change from my recent average (104) is 45.6. With POTS, the problem isn't only an increase, but a quick increase. ⁣
⁣
What are you doing to prepare for summer with POTS? ⁣

manage, you write a blog series, obviously”.

☕ Week 12 of 2026 Weekly ☕

Slow going these days as I wait for Rituxan to kick in

1️⃣ Washed my white sweater … and immediately spilled coffee on it
2️⃣ progress 👀 Cross-stitch takes WAY longer than punch needle for me, especially right now when I’m waiting for Rituxan to kick in and my fingers are not cooperative

Accessibility takes many forms - it's not just having automatic doors and an elevator. ⁣
⁣
In this photo, I'm using a cane. That's an obvious form of accessibility. But there are 2 other ones immediately visible: my sunglasses and my mask. ⁣
⁣
My sunglasses are prescription because I don't wear contacts. Yes, prescription glasses are a form of accessible. ⁣
⁣
Wearing a mask makes the world much more accessible for me. Since I'm on 5 immunosuppressants, I need to be able to wear a mask when I leave the house. ⁣
⁣
Something else you might not notice unless you read my captions is that I include alt text for every single one of my Instagram posts (and images on my blog!). This is for people using screen readers and people with varying levels of sight. ⁣
⁣
The thing is that accessibility is not one-size-fits-all. There are some things that are the clearest forms of accessibility, but it's so much bigger. Accessibility is not raising disabled people higher than abled people; it's getting us to the same level that abled people are already at. ⁣

Being chronically ill involves a lot more than "just" the symptoms. ⁣
⁣
It means hours spent at doctor's offices. ⁣
⁣
It means hoping that a doctor believes you. ⁣
⁣
It means anxiety over your future. ⁣
⁣
It means changing your life and trying medications. ⁣
⁣
it means juggling side effects of those medications (and determining if the medication is worth it due to those side effects). ⁣
⁣
it means losing friends. ⁣
⁣
It means accepting uncertainty. ⁣
⁣
What does it mean for you?⁣
⁣

Just bought my FOURTH pair of All in Motion leggings. They’re soooo comfortable, especially on my worst pain days, and with my Rituxan infusion, I knew I would need another pair. And they come in so many colors so you’re not mixing up if you need to wash your leggings! Get them at Target for your pain and/or athleisure needs

1️⃣ Cross stitch and IVIG
2️⃣ I THOUGHT I HAD MORE TIME BEFORE IT WAS 78 DEGREES
3️⃣ it took 10 years (and multiple recipes/kits) for me to make a loaf of bread that looks like Regular™️ bread. You will see it when I manage this feat.

If these are out, it’s time for a walk! I need to do some sort of activity where I touch the ground for 30 minutes at least 3 times a week. Here’s what I’m generally wearing when I do so!

When you can’t stop touching your face after dermaplaning (it even though you know you shouldn’t). Linked my fav dermaplaning blades below, along with other parts of my skincare routine!

As it gets warmer, it’s important to stay hydrated! I need way more electrolytes than most people, and to help with that, I drink Cure. There are so many flavor varieties and they don’t taste like pure sodium. Whether you have POTS or are an athlete (or both), I strongly recommend Cure

This is the face of coronary artery disease⁣
⁣
Yup, I have heart disease. ⁣
⁣
I've mentioned this in bits and pieces over the last year, but in 2025, I was diagnosed with coronary artery disease. To be clear, I have basically the lowest amount of artery calcification possible to still have heart disease, but I still have it. ⁣
⁣
Coronary artery disease is a complication of rheumatoid arthritis, as cholesterol can be increased by inflammation. As I hung around the border of coronary artery disease, I got COVID. ⁣
⁣
COVID is also an inflammatory condition, which is why research shows that COVID can increase risk of heart disease. ⁣
⁣
We're keeping an eye on it now, and increasing my cholesterol medication has helped keep my cholesterol down. Which is good because I already eat a pretty heart-healthy diet and exercise is tricky for me. ⁣
⁣
If you have an inflammatory condition like RA or Crohn's, you should know that that inflammation can contribute towards cholesterol levels and therefore heart disease, especially if you've had COVID (and every time you get it increases your risks). ⁣
⁣
