I’m so proud of this little lady. Adelaide moved to a sideless (well toddler bumper panel is now on it) crib this weekend. Day and night 2, and she still LOVES it. She climbs in and out by herself, with all her stuffed animals, and loves to read her books in it. I’m amazed by how fast she is growing up, and how even with new things or experiences I’m scared to start with her, really are just a natural progression she’s already ready for. Got to have lunch with my sissy after some meetings this week which was a big treat for us both. My number one trick for getting work done after Addie is back from daycare is “Frozen” on the Amazon Kids Fire 8”. Its on sale for only $89 right now! I got her some cute cat earphones for when she’s on the airplane that I linked here, too. I never thought I’d be ok with TV for toddlers (I was the crazy lady thinking it was bad). But not going to lie, sometimes it’s exactly what we both need. Not a lot, but as a treat. And I think everyone on the airplanes we ride in this summer will appreciate it, too!! 🤣

We just planned a mini family vacation to our favorite beach this summer and I’m ecstatic. We also planned a trip just the hubby and I. I feel like we have spent a lot of our time off at work the past two years introducing the baby to family and spending time with extended family. My work from home #momuniform is a T-shirt, jeans that have a stretch drawstring without zippers and a sweater or jacket. I’m currently going thru my wardrobe and throwing out all my non-Momma clothes. I never thought I’d be a person who says this but some of those dresses, skirts and tops are too risky and non-momma-proof now when bending down or running after a toddler. And my work dresses, while I’ve lost all the pregnancy weight, just don’t fit the same way anymore. I’m proud of my body for what it’s done and know it’s changed even if the scale is the same (and some days less) then what It was before I was a momma so trying to embrace the fact that I love jeans and pants and tops even more then dresses now LOL! This weekend I had an amazing girls getaway with my cousins and sister. We do this every other year and just head to one of our houses and spend some quality time together. It’s such a whirlwind, but it’s also such a blessing that I can spend some time with these very important ladies. It was nice to also have a weekend of adult girl time, and get a boost of love from my family #momtribe. One of our personal goals for Adelaide is that she values family. Taking the time, and truly investing in our small family and broader family unit, is not always easy or cheap. I took a flight after a long work trip to Austin then got into two separate cars to drive 6 hours each way in two days 🙈But this is the life we want. It’s the kind of relationships and family we want and value. Never let your job be the reason you don’t love up on the people and spend time building the life you want. Sometimes work takes a priority, but make sure you know what your overall goal is and use that to make a plan of what your priorities are more often then not. As a working momma, with two jobs, one of which is growing our community here on Balancing By Design, I sometimes feel guilty about my choice to hustle. I’m blessed that I can work on this community (and my other job!!) virtually quite often but know that it sometimes comes at the expense of me being on my phone at nights and weekends when I could be spending more 1:1 time with Adelaide. Rachel Hollis’ new book, “Girl, Stop Apologizing” has really flipped that concept in my head; regardless of what we do as mommas - be it taking time to work out, to work in your job, to work on a new business, or even just to take time for yourself, we have got to re-think how we frame it. Taking care of yourself, and working on things that inspire and jazz you up, make you a better version of yourself. And I want my baby to see that. I want her to know hard work, true balance and give and take, and be inspired by her momma and daddy on how she too can create the life she wants if she is focused on it. Looking forward to some R&R tonight for these tired eyes, reading the Crazy Rich Asians series! I’ve been wearing these blue ray glasses during the day to help with my headaches and dry eyes and have to say they have actually made a difference. Between them, and my new cell phone wallet, my load has gotten a LOT less heavy. Anyone else have mom shoulder? It’s when you carry super heavy diaper bags and baby’s all day and have a never ending shoulder and back pain. Doctor told me it’s a thing! So I’ve opted for a wallet that’s built into my cell phone: one less thing for me to lug around. Spring is in the air and we are officially adding more color to our house. My husband always said hour home was too “white” like a hospital. I think I was honestly decorating that way cause I’m nervous. Nervous about being bold and trying new things. Well, I learned a lot at Thrive this weekend and one of the things God put on my heart was to be bold, find the color, and follow my dream and he put some plans and passions on my mind and heart that I’m exploding to explore! So here is a pink wreath I bought. It’s not gold or silver- it’s BRIGHT pink. And I love it. And I can’t wait to incorporate more color and frankly energy into my life and home.
