Two years ago, this was just an idea scribbled in the margins of my notebook… a “someday” dream I kept bringing up to my husband in passing.

A little greenhouse tucked behind our garden beds. A place to start seeds, clip flowers, and slow down for a minute.

But life was full. Four kids. Renovations. Work. All the things that felt more “important.” So it stayed a dream… one I talked about often, but quietly assumed would take a back seat.

And yet, I couldn’t shake it.
I kept picturing early mornings out here… dirt under my nails, coffee in hand, growing something from nothing.

Not because it was productive. Not because it looked impressive. But because it felt like me.

So we started. Slowly. Weekend by weekend. Board by board. A two-year labor of love that didn’t happen overnight… but maybe that’s what makes this moment feel so sacred.

Because this isn’t just a greenhouse.

It’s proof that the quiet dreams you keep coming back to… the ones that don’t make a lot of noise… the ones that don’t necessarily “make sense” to anyone else…
are usually the ones worth building.

If you’re someone who’s holding onto a slow, steady dream like that… you’re in the right place here. 🌿

If you’re choosing this kind of summer over a packed schedule…let me know in the comments!

Lately I’ve been realizing that my idea of a “good” summer has changed.

It used to feel like it needed to be full… plans, trips, things to do. But the older I get, the more I find myself craving something slower. Something that actually feels like I’m living it while it’s happening. ☀️

Open windows that let the breeze move through the house.
Fresh herbs on the counter from the garden.
Simple dinners at home with the people I love.

The kind of days that feel a little like being a kid again… when summer didn’t need to be impressive to be memorable. 🤍

I don’t know, maybe it’s nostalgia… or maybe it’s finally realizing the life I was looking for has been here all along. 🏡

For the longest time I struggled with how to make something feel functional and beautiful. It felt like I had to pick and choose.

Like if it worked well, it couldn’t also feel warm and inviting… and if it looked beautiful, it probably wasn’t very practical for real, everyday life.

But somewhere along the way, I realized it was never about choosing one or the other—it was about layering both.

Letting the pretty things be useful.
Letting the functional things be seen.
Letting a space feel lived-in, not just styled.

And that’s where the magic started to happen.
So if you’ve been waiting for permission to make your spaces both… this is it 🤍

Day 10 of Whole30 and while parts of this have been hard, adjusting to a new routine, meal planning, making separate meals for my kids, skipping restaurants, etc. 😅…it has also been incredibly eye-opening. ✨

More than anything, I’ve realized exactly where my cravings live: a sweet drink or treat 🍫🥤 and a few salty snacks 🥨. It’s been surprisingly hard not to reach for those things. Dang habits! 🤪

Days 7-8 were definitely the hardest for me for some reason. I felt like I could not stay full, was constantly craving sugar and carbs 🍞🍪, and honestly started to feel discouraged because I still had not noticed a real difference in my gut. I was still feeling super bloated. 😩

But then I read that this can actually be really normal when you switch to eating more fiber, fruits, and vegetables 🥦🍎. Your body needs time to adjust, and sometimes that adjustment can temporarily make the bloating worse before it gets better.

But today…I woke up feeling noticeably less bloated, less inflamed, and for the first time I could actually see a visible difference in my stomach. 🙌🏼

So while I still have a ways to go, I’m feeling encouraged to keep going and hopeful that I’ll finally get some answers. 🤍

In the meantime, I’m learning new ways to make my afternoon drink still feel a little indulgent, because apparently that 3pm treat is deeply embedded in my soul. ☕️🤣

Things I’m living for these days: sunlight that hits just right, open windows, a made bed, home cooked meals, a clean kitchen, soft jazz playing softly in the kitchen, prayer time around the table, lamp glow at 6pm.

The older I get, the more I realize that the life I was searching for was never found in the big, dramatic moments. It was hidden in the ordinary things all along. In the quiet rhythms of a home that feels lived in and loved.

Tell me one small, ordinary thing you’re living for these days. I want to know.

Can I be honest with you… like really honest?

For a long time, I didn’t know how to steward my home well. I was so caught up in what I thought life should look like, and what I thought I wanted, that I missed the beauty of what was right in front of me.

Then one day, it felt like a light bulb went off. I realized that all the wanting and dreaming was keeping me trapped in discontentment. I was waiting for a different life while the one I had was quietly asking to be loved.

So I decided to create magic in the mundane.

That looked like stringing market lights above our cracked patio and setting up a few folding tables so we could eat dinner outside under the glow.

It looked like serving ordinary meals on the “fancy” plates and turning on old jazz in the kitchen just to make a Tuesday night feel a little softer.

They’re such simple things. But they changed the way I saw my home, my family, and my life.

So as we step into this warmer season, and come out of our winter hibernation, maybe this is your invitation too. Not to wait for a different house, a different season, or a different version of your life.

But to begin making the life you already have feel a little more magical.

I am truly the least qualified person to be giving houseplant advice… and yet somehow this grape ivy has decided to thrive in spite of me. 🤪

I randomly brought her home from one of my favorite nurseries two years ago and against all odds, she is still alive…not only alive, but absolutely thriving.

In true “terrible plant parent” fashion, I’ve kept her in the same pot this entire time, never changed the soil, never added plant food, and honestly only remember to deeply water her about once a month. 😬 Somehow she has quadrupled in size anyway.

So when I spotted this pot at HomeGoods that was more than twice the size of her old one, I figured she had at least earned an upgrade. I repotted her with indoor potting soil from Miracle-Gro and she is absolutely loving her new little home.

Also my hubby knows my love language 😎 a fresh, cold Poppi is my hearts medicine these days!☺️

If you too have plants that survive purely on vibes and neglect…welcome, you’re among friends. 🌿

If this felt aggressively specific… I have a feeling we’d get along. 🤍

Aldi runs, antique runs, early bedtimes, abandoned sourdough dreams, and zero chill once we decide we want something.

If that’s your personality too … welcome. You’re my kind of people. 🏡

The paint color of our primary bedroom is one that I think I will forever get asked about …. And it’s easy to see why! It’s the most gorgeous, most versatile shade of blue!

LIGHT BLUE by Farrow & Ball

We just painted our back entryway in this color and I am so obsessed with it! Stay tuned for that reveal happening soon!
