I get asked all the time...how do you mix patterns and while I don’t have a “formula” for it.

These are a few foundational tips that I come back to every time:

• Start classic. A medium-scale floral paired with a medium-scale stripe is always a safe, beautiful foundation. The colors on this don’t even have to match!

• Play with scale. Mix a small gingham print, with a bold block print, and a medium floral print to create balance and visual interest. Color cohesion is important here; you want them to feel like they are “related” but NOT closely related!

• Repeat a pattern in different colors. Using the same motif (in my case...gingham) in different colors keeps things cohesive without feeling too matchy.

• Add a pause. A solid fabric gives the eye a place to rest and lets your patterns shine.

If pattern mixing has ever felt intimidating, SAVE this and come back to it the next time you’re styling a room 🤍

Over the years, I’m always asked about our trim…

Is it original?
What paint did you use?
What stain matches it best?

The trim in our home is original to our 1920s Craftsman, but if you’re trying to recreate that same timeless, traditional look, the closest match we’ve found is Early American by Minwax.

It’s warm, classic, and has that old-home depth that never feels trendy.

Save this for future reference if you love rich, character-filled trim 🤎

What’s something in your life that didn’t turn out how you planned… but you’re grateful for anyway?

I’ll be honest… in this season of uncertainty that my family and I find ourselves in, regarding my sister‘s recent cancer diagnosis, I struggle most days to find the light at the end of the tunnel.

I know that often times the struggles that we face in our life can be used to refine us, shape us and mold us into an even better version of ourselves, but getting into that version is never an easy road.

So I’m curious… what’s something in your life that didn’t go as planned and maybe felt like the end of the road for you in some respect but ended up being a blessing in disguise?

V-Day Inspired: Strawberry Glaze Cake 🍰🍓 this recipe came from @nurturednutrition_

Her full recipe is below, followed by a few things I would have done slightly different the next time I make this 😍

For the Bread
	•	¾ cup granulated sugar
	•	½ cup milk
	•	½ cup olive oil
	•	1 large egg
	•	1 teaspoon vanilla extract
	•	2 cups all-purpose flour
	•	2 teaspoons baking powder
	•	½ teaspoon salt
	•	2 cups diced strawberries, tossed with 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

For the Glaze
	•	2 cups powdered sugar
	•	2 tablespoons melted butter
	•	⅓ cup finely diced strawberries
	•	½ teaspoon vanilla extract
	•	1–2 tablespoons heavy cream or milk, as needed to thin

Instructions
1.	Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and set aside.
2.	In a medium bowl, whisk together the sugar, milk, olive oil, egg, and vanilla until smooth.
3.	In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir just until combined.
4.	In a small bowl, toss the diced strawberries with the 2 tablespoons of flour. Gently fold the strawberries into the batter.
5.	Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
6.	Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
7.	To make the glaze, stir together the powdered sugar, melted butter, diced strawberries, and vanilla. Add cream or milk a tablespoon at a time until the glaze reaches your desired consistency.
8.	Once the loaf has fully cooled, spoon the glaze over the top. Slice, serve, and enjoy.

*if I were to make this again, I’d probably substitute butter for olive oil. I love the way real butter tastes vs oil in cakes.
** I’d add one more tablespoon of milk (I did 2) to thin the glaze slightly more (mine was much thicker than hers).
*** wait a little longer to serve as it was a bit crumbly when cutting (but still just as delicious)!

All in all, this was such a refreshing treat, perfect to celebrate with all the people you ❤️

I was cleaning an old closet the other day and stumbled upon this old can of paint (that I have been looking for for ages) that we used to paint the girls room with back in 2022!

Because I get asked the question “what paint color is this” on the daily 😜 this felt like something I NEEDED to share!

So please…. let me help you, help me…and SAVE this post! 🤣😜🤗

Sometimes I know just the name of the paint color isn’t enough, since different colors aren’t in every hardware stores systems. But if you have the exact numbers they can mix it JUST right! 🤗 So screenshot, save and repeat 🤗

Another Slow Supper Sunday, the kind that simmers quietly all day and welcomes everyone home.
This sweet potato beef stew is simple, hearty, and so comforting; nothing fancy, just good ingredients doing their thing.

• 2 large sweet potatoes, thinly sliced
• 2 medium carrots, peeled + sliced
• 2 celery stalks, sliced
• 1 onion, chopped
• 1 can corn
• Generous salt + pepper
• 8 cups beef broth

Add everything to the crockpot and cook on low for 6–8 hours.

Warm bowls, full hearts, and leftovers that somehow taste even better the next day.

Pewter Green by @sherwinwilliams

When we painted this office back in 2021 I knew I wanted the space to feel masculine, vintage, and moody! I wanted it to feel like you took a step back in time.

And this color checked all those boxes for me!

Would you use this color in your home?
