I usually like to wrap things up into a pretty, aesthetic video. But sometimes you just have to be real real… the kind of real where you strip away the polish and show what it actually looked like along the way.

The Pink Room, as it’s now known, wasn’t always pink. It went through so many versions before I ever landed here. And the craziest part? I almost painted over this color after the first coat because I didn’t think I liked it.

That’s the honest truth. And it’s also proof that sometimes the best thing you can do with a design choice is sit with it for a minute. Let it settle. Let it show you who it’s going to be.

The kind of recipe that feels fancy but is secretly so simple… in true Slow Supper fashion.

This beef tenderloin has become one of our go-to “special but not stressful” dinners. I usually make it with two beef tenderloins, because leftovers never last long in this house.

The marinade is what makes it magic:
½ cup soy sauce
½ cup Worcestershire sauce
½ cup pickled jalapeño brine (mine is homemade from our garden jalapeños 🌶️)
½ teaspoon black pepper (or cracked whole pepper)
½ stick of butter

Bold, buttery, just a little spicy, and so incredibly rich.

Now for how I get that crispy outside with a melt-in-your-mouth center every single time. After years of trial and error, cast iron is the answer. I heat my skillet over medium-high with 3 tablespoons of butter, sear the tenderloins for 5 minutes per side until deeply golden (about 20 minutes total), then slide the whole pan into a 350° oven for 10 minutes. Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing and you’ll have the juiciest, most tender beef every time.

And this is where Slow Supper comes in. It doesn’t always mean crockpot meals. Sometimes it simply means slowing down long enough to make food that feels comforting, intentional, and nourishing for your family… meals that say we’re here, together, at the table.

I don’t begin to understand how he understands me 🤣😜 but somehow…he makes my dreams come true every single time 🥹🤩

We’ve officially started renovating the gym bathroom. And if you’re thinking, wait…what gym? Two years ago we bought a building in our small town and have been slowly renovating it ever since (emphasis on slowly 😉). One of the smaller rooms became our personal gym space 💪🏼 but the bathroom was never fully finished.

So follow along as we turn this space into a heritage-inspired WC 🤍 It’ll be a long, layered project, but we’re excited to finally begin and bring you along for the progress.

The trim in our home is original to our 1920s Craftsman, but if you’re trying to recreate that same timeless, traditional look, the closest match we’ve found is Early American by Minwax.

It’s warm, classic, and has that old-home depth that never feels trendy.
