Immortality sounds fun until you read the fine print. 💀🩸

Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil follows three women across five centuries, each searching for freedom, desire, and a life of her own, only to discover that immortality comes with a hunger that never really goes away.

Gothic vampires. Sapphic yearning. Morally questionable women. Five centuries of bad decisions and consequences that literally last forever.

Honestly, what more do we need?

But the real question: Would you choose immortality if you knew what it would cost?

spooky season said: what if your 81-year-old neighbor was ✨possibly a murderer?✨ 🔪☕️

Meet Elsie: professional grump, tea enthusiast, lover of being left ALONE.

Except there’s one tiny detail…

She used to be known as Mad Mabel Waller, Australia’s youngest convicted murderer. 🫠

She’s kept that part of her life buried for decades, but then a neighbor turns up dead and suddenly the cops are asking questions, the media is circling, and her new 7-year-old neighbor Persephone has approximately 700 questions and absolutely zero boundaries.

And Elsie? She’s had enough.

So now we have:

🔪 an 81-year-old with a criminal past
☕ tea + attitude
👧 one aggressively curious child
💀 a dead neighbor
👀 an entire neighborhood in everyone’s business
✨ decades-old secrets resurfacing

Basically: did grandma do it???

Darkly funny, a little unhinged, and exactly the kind of murdery nonsense I want on my TBR for spooky season. 🍂💀

Would you trust Elsie or are you locking your doors immediately? 👀

In need of a historical fiction to casually ruin your life for a few days?

Oxford, Mississippi, 1933.

Abandoned by her mother one Christmas Eve, eleven-year-old Meg Lefleur has learned the hard way to rely on no one. Now one of the unadoptable "big girls" at the Lafayette County Orphan Asylum, she fights each day to keep her spirit unbowed.

Birdie Calhoun, unmarried and outspoken, has come to Oxford to ask her socialite sister to help the struggling family she’s left behind. But as the Depression tightens its grip, Birdie discovers her sister’s seemingly charmed life is a tapestry of lies.

Then, Birdie encounters Charlie, a woman running low on luck with little left to lose. When their fates (and Meg’s) converge, Charlie comes up with an audacious plan for them to take control of their lives. But in a place and time where hypocrisy is rife and women’s freedom is fragile, even the smallest act of defiance can have dangerous consequences.

The Calamity Club will make you laugh, cry, and cheer, an epic testament to underestimated women who know that calamity can be the spark of new beginnings. This is Kathryn Stockett at her most confident, heartfelt, and hilarious; the triumphant return of one of the most beloved storytellers of our time.

If the people have no bread, let them eat cake - Marie Antoinette

Schönbrunn Palace

The impressive Schönbrunn Palace, or Schloss Schönbrunn in German, is one of the most famous landmarks in Austria. It’s located in Vienna and has more than 500 years of imperial heritage, art and natural beauty.

Fun Facts:

Marie Antoinette was born an archduchess of Austria and this palace is where she spent her summers.

Napoleon has been here as well – twice actually. He used the palace as his headquarters in 1805 and again in 1809.

In 1762 when Mozart was six years old, he performed a concert for the royal family.
