Crafting Nostalgic Cinnamon Salt Dough Ornaments and Cookies with Dutch Molds

In this Christmas-inspired video, you’ll create handmade ornaments, cookie décor, and festive keepsakes using a nostalgic cinnamon salt dough recipe. With a rich aroma of cinnamon filling the air, the process evokes warm, old-world holiday vibes. Now, I absolutely have to try making cookies with these beautiful molds.

You’ll see step-by-step how to:

Make the Cinnamon Salt Dough: A blend of flour, salt, cinnamon, and water for a richly spiced dough perfect for crafting.

Press and Mold Designs: Use intricately detailed Dutch cookie molds to imprint windmills, floral birds, and other vintage-inspired patterns onto the dough.

Bake and Decorate: Transform your creations into beautiful ornaments or cookie-like décor. Whether left natural or painted with a delicate touch, they bring a charming, rustic Christmas touch to any space.

INGREDIENTS
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup salt
3/4 cup ground cinnamon
3/4 cup water
INSTRUCTIONS

Combine flour, salt, and cinnamon in a mixing bowl.
Add water and mix with a spoon, then use a paddle attachment to form a crumbly but cohesive dough. If too dry, add water 1 tsp at a time.
Knead dough on a floured surface for 30 seconds until smooth.
Press dough into molds, scrape off excess, and carefully release onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Use a toothpick to make a hole for hanging.
Bake at 200°F for 30 minutes with the decorative side up. Flip and bake another 30 minutes. Cool on a rack.
Thread ribbon or twine through each ornament using a tapestry needle for hanging.

Cut the Floral Wire: Cut a piece of brown floral wire about 10-12 inches long and shape it into a small circle, twisting the ends to secure it.
Attach Star Anise with Hot Glue: Apply a small dot of hot glue to the back of each star anise pod and press it onto the wire circle. Continue around the circle, evenly spacing each star anise for a balanced look.
Finish and Display: Once the glue has dried, trim any excess wire, and your wreath is ready to be displayed!
