What You’ll Need:
• 1 cup unsalted butter (softened to room temperature)
• ½ cup granulated sugar (plus an extra ¼ cup in a small bowl for rolling)
• 2 large egg yolks (room temperature)
• ½ teaspoon almond extract (vanilla works too!)
• ¼ teaspoon salt
• 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
• ½ cup raspberry jam (or your favorite flavor)
How to Make Them:
1. Cream the Base: In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the butter and ½ cup of sugar together. Keep going for about 2 minutes until the mixture looks light and fluffy.
2. Add Flavor & Binder: Mix in the egg yolks, almond extract, and salt. Give the sides of the bowl a quick scrape to make sure everything is incorporated.
3. Add Flour: Pour in the flour and mix just until the dough comes together—try not to overmix!
4. Roll & Coat: Scoop out about a tablespoon of dough at a time and roll it into a smooth ball between your palms. Roll the ball in your extra bowl of sugar until coated, then place it on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Space them about 1 ½ inches apart.
5. Make the Hearts: Use your thumb (or the back of a round measuring spoon) to press two small, angled indentations into the center of each ball to form a heart shape. Spoon about ½ teaspoon of jam into the center of each heart.
6. Chill Out: Preheat your oven to 350°F. While it heats up, pop your cookie sheet into the fridge for 10–15 minutes. This is the secret step to keep them from spreading out too much!
7. Bake & Cool: Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the edges feel set. Let them rest on the hot pan for 5 minutes before moving them to a wire rack to finish cooling.

came up with the genius idea to shape candy cane pastries into a heart shape a few years ago. I'm obsessed with how it turned out and it's a total crowd pleaser!
Recipe: Two cans of crescent rolls, Cream cheese frosting, Favorite fruits preserve/jelly. Place the dough as shown above, Layer with the frosting and preserve, Twist the ends over as shown above Layer, Do a quick egg wash over.
Bake on 350° for about 18 minutes then top with powdered sugar!
This is such a fun way to celebrate Valentine's Day!
