The dread I used to feel going into this space. Like, zero joy. Hated it. It felt old and outdated, the fact that the cabinets didn’t go to the ceiling drove me nuts, I couldn’t easily reach them because of the pedestals, I had no working space, and the floors felt dirty and cold.

Jump to now, and sometimes I just stand in there because it feels like the most charming little space and it FUNCTIONS! 👏🏻 Here’s your sign that if you put a little effort into it, even during small snippets of time, you will not regret it!

✨LAUNDRY ROOM MAKEOVER✨

Okay this has been a LONG time coming. This process has taken us two years 😅 It didn’t need to necessarily but we did it in phases! First was new paint, new peel and stick tile, installing larger cabinets, painting our utility sink, and a new W/D (which was much needed). This was phase one. Phase two was adding a new large cabinet and wallpaper on the opposite wall. Then we added the beadboard accent and finally built the surround. We’ve been living with the functional laundry room for a year and a half, so the later phases were just extra steps to make it a little prettier and a little more functional for us. Despite it being a long process, I LOVE how it turned out and I am not joking when I say I actually love doing laundry now. Tutorials to come on the beadboard and DIY surround! I hope you all love it as much as I do 🫶🏻

✨LAUNDRY BEADBOARD REVEAL✨

Okay, okay so maybe I’ve officially showed it in some other reels, but I haven’t shown you the full scope of the room yet!

We have been making plans for our laundry surround and we to replace the light fixture, which I have picked out and need to order, and then I want to add a bamboo shade in here to help warm up the space and give some privacy. It’s coming together slowly but surely and I’m loving it!

If you’d ask me if I regretted adding the peel and stick tile to our laundry room the answer is nope, zero, nada, not one bit. Every time I walk into my laundry room, and I truly mean every time, I am in awe of these floors. They completely transformed the look of this space! And after a year of living with them I am happy to report there has been zero separating, cracks, sinking, anything. 👌🏻 I’ve spilled water on these and laundry powder and it cleans up with ease. Nothing gets stuck in the seams. I’ve seen people grout it to give it a more polished look, but for now I’m loving them just the way they are 🫶🏻 If you have hesitated on these I am here to tell you they are WORTH IT!

✨LAUNDRY ROOM UPDATE PART 4✨

You guysssss! To say I am excited about having closed storage is an understatement! I actually feel like the door to this room can remain open and be pretty to look at!

What we’ve done so far:
-paint
-peel and stick tile
-new cabinets
-new W/D
-spray painted utility sink and updated faucet
-new closed storage

Still left:
-build laundry surround
-beadboard
-peel and stick wallpaper
-new light fixture

Let’s hope we can finish it out by the end of the year! 😅 What do you think? Worth all the work and length of time that it’s taken us? I think yes!

I know I keep saying we still have some things to do, which is true, but right now we are just enjoying the slowness that is summer! It’s completely functional right now. Just a reminder that you can DIY and you can take breaks!

This runner is currently on sale for $28! I love the beautiful creams, beige, and charcoal colors. It is thin so you will need to use a rug pad underneath if you plan to get a larger size. I used rug grippers to keep it in place. It’s great for a high traffic area since it hides dirt well and is low pile.

It’s still not done, but this laundry room has come SO far! I no longer dread walking into this space. It’s been so budget friendly for such a big impact! At some point once it’s all done I’ll do a blog post with the cost breakdown. Hope you all are having a great Wednesday!
