✨WAYS TO UPDATE YOUR HOME: UNDER $100✨

Last week I shared my favorite ways to update a home for free and mentioned I was going to make it a series, so without further ado, let’s get to it! It’s pretty amazing with a small amount of money what you can do and make a big impact!

1) PAINT—okay, I can’t emphasize this enough, PAINT, PAINT, PAINT! A room, a wall, a door, trim, a piece of furniture, the options are endless! Whether you want moody or neutral, bright and bold, or light and airy paint can change the entire vibe of a space. And do everyone a favor and skip the internet. Just pick a color that brings joy (but samples are your friend 🙃)

2) PEEL AND STICK TILE: we used this in our laundry room and it’s still one of my favorite DIYs to date. It literally changes the look of the entire space and is relatively easy to complete! We’ve had ours two years now with zero issues. I’ve seen the backsplash tiles that also look amazing! It’s a great way to test out a look, too, before fully committing.

3) WAINSCOTING/MOULDING: a 4x8 panel of beadboard costs under $25 at Home Depot. We’ve used this in our laundry room and my younger son’s room. It’s a very beginner friendly DIY! Adding a chair rail or frame moulding can also be inexpensive depending how many walls you are completing and on the size of the room.

4) ARTWORK: I love to buy artwork on Etsy or my favorite @collectionprints! I oftentimes buy digital downloads to save on cost and you can have them printed so many places. I prefer to splurge a little more on larger pieces and prefer glicée prints! Thrift frames to save on money or sometimes HomeGoods has really awesome deals, too 🙌🏻

5) STEMS: Swapping out stems can be a fun way to add some color to a space. If you have a black thumb like me 🙃 there are so many faux stems look very realistic. It’s a great way to refresh a space each season, too!

Can we talk about this yellow?! Omgsh, it’s the perfect soft, muted yellow. LOVE! This off the shoulder fleece is perfectly lightweight for spring. Love the off the shoulder look. This is a size S but I may try sizing up to a M for a little longer fit. The length in the arms is great, though!

I can’t tell you how many pairs of these shorts that I own. They are the BEST! Pockets on both sides, including one zip. The wide elastic band is super comfortable and it even has the elastic cinch. I wear an XS in these!

These boxy tees I have in multiple colors. I wear these for workouts and everyday because they are just the best fit. Also wear an XS in these!

This dress is new to me but it’s a great length, super soft, and I loved the ribbed fabric. Even better? It comes with a built in bra with removable padding 🤌🏻

✨TARGET DENIM MUST HAVES✨

When I find denim that feels quality, is affordable, and fits me perfectly, then I feel the need to share! Did I mention they are all ON SALE?!

I love the pockets on this first pair of denim, a fun twist! I am not a fan of denim that has a lot of stretch because I find they don’t last as long. These are perfect and they hit my 5’4”(ish) frame perfectly!

These A-line denim shorts will be my new go-to this summer! So much so that I will probably grab another pair 😉 I love the longer length and the cut of them! Perfect for mom life.

I have this denim top in two shades. This is the lighter one. I sized up to a M for a more oversized fit. This has been washed and dried! It’s a bit of a heavier weight so it’s perfect for fall and spring when the whether can’t make up its mind 🙃

Y’ALL. These cookies are probably one of my absolute favorite cookies ever. I don’t know what it is about them, but I can never get enough! Perfect for your next Easter gathering! See recipe below.

INGREDIENTS:
-1/2 cup softened butter
-1/2 cup shortening (I often skip this and just use all butter)
-1 cup packed brown sugar
-1/2 cup granulated sugar
-1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
-2 eggs
-2 3/4 cups flour whisked, measured and leveled
-1 teaspoon salt
-1 teaspoon baking soda
-1 cup cadbury eggs plus extra for garnish

DIRECTIONS:
-Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line two to three baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.
-Cream butter, shortening, brown sugar and granulated sugar together to cream. Add in vanilla and eggs and mix again until lighter in color and fluffy. Scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl and mix again to ensure an evenly mixed batter.
-Add in your measured flour (see notes below), salt and baking soda. Stir until just combined. Scrape the sides and bottom of the mixer to ensure the batter is evenly mixed. Add in the chopped cadbury eggs and stir in by hand.
-Using a 3 tablespoon cookie scoop, portion out cookies onto your baking sheets. Top with more cadbury eggs, if desired.
-Bake cookies 8-10 minutes. Cool 2-3 minutes on the hot baking sheet before transferring to cooling rack.

I’ve owned all of these for years! The first two are my favorites. The CloudPile rugs are so incredibly soft I would never hesitate to buy another. They also both hide stains very well! The last one is also very soft and is machine washable! It has great neutral colors and I have considered getting a full size of this one it’s so good!

✨EASY READS TO PACK WITH YOU FOR SPRING BREAK (part 2)✨

These are some more light reads that I had book hangover from because I was sad they were over! Comment READS for links 🔗

1) One Golden Summer by @carleyfortune is by far her best yet! This one follows older brother Charlie from “Every Summer After” and photographer Alice. This is the best summer escape. An easy 5⭐️

2) Funny Story by @emilyhenrywrites is such a gem. I wasn’t sure that she could top “Happy Place,” and I would say she did with this one in my eyes, but it’s still SO good. Brought together by their exes, Daphne and Miles start a fake dating scheme that makes them realize first I prepare t everything.

3) Love and Other Words by @christinalauren was my second book of theirs and a beautiful story of childhood love and misunderstandings. Told in a “now and then” format, this book had me hooked from the get-go.

4) The Love Hypothesis by @alihazelwood is a great option for lovers of “Lessons in Chemistry” (but way better in my opinion). Academia plays a role in this fake relationship story of Olive and Adam.

5) Nothing Like the Movies by @lynnpainter is the second book of the series with a second chance at love for Liz and Wes. I wasn’t sure this one could still deliver, but it did! Again, this young adult book had such a hold on me and the audio is a dual narration and oh so good!

6) Yours Truly by @authorabbyjimenez is probably my favorite book of hers! A relationship that starts based on writing letters and grows into so much more. Great humor in this one. Another book I couldn’t read fast enough but also didn’t want to end!

✨MUST HAVE TRAVEL ESSENTIALS✨

These are some of my tried and true favorite travel items I have used for years!

-These packing cubes make packing a cinch! I can fit so much in them and it makes things so much easier when packing with kids so everything stays separated. And these shoe bags keep our clothes from all the junk we walk on!
-These toiletry and makeup bags fit all of my hair, makeup, and skincare essentials! I keep basically all of my travel stuff in the hanging bag so it’s ready to go. And I love that this makeup bag lies flat!
-This portable charger allows you to charge up to 4 devices at once. It comes in super handy (especially at Disney when you are constantly using your phone). It’s thin and easily fits into a purse.
-I love, love, love my Kindle! It’s super thin so I can easily throw it into my carry on or personal item and it’s great because I can have more than one book if needed!
-These mesh bags I use for everything from travel to home organization! I typically throw all my cords in here, but I use them for sunscreen and meds for my kids or as extra bags for a change of clothes. So many uses!
-I like that this jewelry carrier fits lots of different items without being super bulky!

✨LUCKY CHARMS MARSHMALLOW TREAT✨

If you’re looking for a fun, simple way to celebrate St. Patty’s these marshmallow treats are a hit! Super easy to make with only 4 ingredients!

1/3 cup unsalted butter
pinch of salt
12 ounce bag of marshmallows
5 1/2 cups Lucky Charms cereal

Grease a 9 x 9 pan with cooking spray and set aside. In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the marshmallows and salt and stir with a rubber spatula, scraping down the sides to make sure the marshmallows do not burn. As soon as the marshmallows are melted, remove from the heat immediately. Add the Lucky Charms cereal, folding to coat the cereal completely. (I’d recommend spraying your spatula with some cooking oil to prevent sticking—ask me how I know 🙃) Spoon the mixture into the prepared pan, pressing down into an even layer. Place in the fridge to set for at least 20 minutes. Once set, use a sharp knife to cut the treats into 12 rectangles. Enjoy!
