Gloomy day and I love it. These boots are as close to the Khaite Marfa boots as I’ll get. They look similar and are a much less expensive alternative. Comfortable too.

I love these Aritzia trousers. They come in several fabrics and a bunch of colours. I also have them in a camel colour in a soft wool blend. Since I’m not tall and they are cropped, they hit perfectly at the ankle for me which works with all kinds of footwear.

For those that DM’d me asking how I wear vintage bed jackets, this is one way. I like the bit of feminine touches to juxtapose a more rough around the edges outfit. Honestly, I’ve spent the last two years trying to find a vest/waistcoat that feels like me and I finally admitted defeat and accepted it isn’t a trend for me even though I really like the look. I’m wearing three current trends. One a midaxi (mid to maxi) length skirt in a column shape. Two, coloured sneakers. Three, is fringe. Here’s the thing, you can go as big or small as you want with trends. Coloured sneakers are a really easy way to add some visual interest if you love wearing black. If the thought of a fringe jacket or fringe skirt seems intimidating, try something small like this vintage fringe bucket bag. The most important part though is don’t feel like you have to dress trendy in order to be stylish or "cool", those things aren’t related. Only add trends if they feel right to your personal style.

Honestly, I hate the jacket over shoulders thing because it’s not practical for me. The H&M eather skirt again paired with a navy blue sweater even though it looks black here (also from H&M), and some sports socks & sneakers. I prefer wearing socks over going sockless any day, even when it is a million degrees outside. Which is why I always make sure to buy fun colours or styles. It is an inexpensive way to accessorize your outfit, and Uniqlo and Simon’s are my favourite places to buy them.
Fun fact: I can’t sleep without socks on.

I found this skirt on Poshmark for $20. It’s a wrap style with a leather buckled waistband. The seller bought it in 1990 in Germany. I love knowing a story behind something I buy, it makes it better. I layered a slip dress under it because it opens in the wrap overlap area and exposes a lot of leg when I walk. The slip dress keeps it all covered.

A million hours later I finally got the patches off these jeans. So much better but there was dye transfer from one if the patches that I need to try and remove it lighten. Worth the effort though. Men’s Levi’s 501s in a size 34. 32 would have been better but when buying secondhand sometimes you can’t check all the boxes.

Although it’s almost 40°C today with the humidex and my flesh feels like it is melting off, I am eagerly thinking about my fall wardrobe. A few things I’ve recently bought for it are:
• knee high boots
• Birkenstock Bostons (I got black with the shearling so I can wear them longer)
• boyfriend jeans
• sweater dress
• oversized cardigan
• a wide array of coloured socks
• grey satin shirt dress that I’ll wear as a shirt most likely not a dress.
• some vintage jewellery
I’m looking forward to the wardrobe shift. Plus, I hate wearing sandals because I haven’t bothered to paint my toenails since the pandemic started 😬 I’ll be happy to keep them covered.
