Some dinners deserve their own soundtrack and last weekend’s was courtesy of my Instagram friend @officialrollingblue, who turned Beck’s Loser into the ultimate kitchen anthem: “So what I’m hungry for is some dinner, baby …so why not some chili?” Inspired by Julie & Julia, I’m cooking my way through Magnolia Table Volumes 1, 2, and 3. I’m calling it The Jeanie Jo & Joanna Project. Recipes 90 and 91 are Gaines Family Chili and Jalapeño Cornbread — and here’s how they turned out. The chili was hearty, smoky, and rich; the kind that warms more than your hands. The cornbread was golden and buttery, the jalapeños adding just enough attitude. And that final swirl of sour cream?
