Lighting can literally make or break how your home feels, so here are my 3 rules for choosing lighting that looks intentional 👇🏼 ✨ 1. Pick a style + stick with it. Your lights don’t need to match, but they should feel like they belong together. I love a traditional + modern mix, so I lean more modern with my lighting to keep everything cohesive. ✨ 2. Get the scale + height right. For a light fixture over a table, island, or other surface, aim for the fixture to be about 2/3 the width of the surface underneath it. For pendants over an island or table, a good rule of thumb is 30–36 inches from the surface to the bottom of the fixture. These little measurements make SUCH a difference in making a room feel balanced. ✨ 3. Layer your lighting. Don’t rely on one overhead light to do all the work! Mix ambient, task + accent lighting — think chandeliers or pendants, lamps, sconces and even picture lights. Layering your lighting makes a room feel warmer, more elevated and so much more intentional. SAVE this for your next lighting shopping trip and comment SHOP for links to my favorite fixtures!
