Hugh’s six months old. Already 🤯 And despite being a preemie, he’s very much ready for solid foods.

Maybe it’s watching his brother eat (he already wants to copy everything Owen does). Maybe it’s just naturally growing.

But for some reason this milestone is hitting me hard. We’ve been lucky enough to be able to exclusively breastfeed these past six months. I’m already shared how surprised and blessed I feel that we’ve gotten that experience. But somehow Hugh starting solids makes me sad. Excited for him but sad for me. Like it’s a symbolic step away from me. From not needing me as much. Towards growing up.

Where has the time gone? Those newborn moments have swept by all too quickly. And my Mama heart can’t seem to take it. Starting solids feels like such a small thing… why does my heart feel so heavy? Why does this milestone feel so big?

What I bought & loved in April 2024:

Nude Kimono ($30) — an easy cover-up for days when you just barely need a coat. And way comfier than even a denim jacket.

Linen Pants ($21) — as much as I wish I fit into my pre pregnancy wardrobe right now, I just don’t. And that’s okay. I treated myself to these easy comfy pants that come in tons of colors and will be easy to wear once I’m back to my usual size too.

Lawless Overnight Lip Mask ($22) — I know I share a lot of lip products but this one has become my OG. “Forget the filler” plumping and the watermelon is the perfect shade of pink. My only caveat is it’s too pretty to just wear overnight.

Used AGOLDE Riley Jeans ($62) — I’m doing my best to invest in used and vintage pieces these days, not just because it’s earth month but also because you can snag really great deals on closet staples. I was missing my pre pregnancy Riley’s (if you haven’t tried this jean, be forewarned, you’ll never want a different pair) so I bought a barely used pair for 1/3 the price. Similar used pairs are linked!

Skims Tee ($56) — my gf wore this shirt last time we hung out and I could not get over how perfect it was. Perfect stretch, perfect weight, perfect length, perfect neutral color? Sold 🤍

What I Bought & Loved in March 2024

Flare Mini Dress ($40) — a “sporty, sexy but still acceptable for daily wear” kinda-dress. Love how stretchy this one is because my postpartum body is changing by the minute 👌🏻

Wide Mule Sandals ($35) — my gf Natalie got me into Target heels and these sandals come in wide-sizes! Perfect for feet that just aren’t the same after 🤰🏼

Sephora Red Lip Stain ($15) — Jenna Lyon’s favorite red lip doesn’t disappoint. I’ve been searching for a great red for two years since Stila discontinued my old favorite and will def be wearing this one nonstop now 💋

Y2K Sunglasses ($5) — I hate to invest too much in trends so when I found these throwback Sunnies for $5, I couldn’t say no. Surprisingly effective at sun protection too!

13” Vase ($50) — finally found the right vase to switch out my old one on our kitchen island. Love the greenery I found at Park & Oak for it too 🤍

Took three months but I finally finished this opus by @peterattiamd — an excellent overview of ways to protect and prevent against cancer, metabolic dysfunction, cardiac incidents and Alzheimer’s. I do disagree with a few of his suggestions (specifically the recommendations of statins for everyone given their possible link to cognitive disease) but will absolutely be implementing a lot of his recommendations 💪🏻
