I found the cutest barefoot shoes on Amazon and they’re way more affordable than the name brands I’ve seen! They are lightweight, zero drop, flexible and SO WIDE: perfect for my boys’ wide feet and preserving proper toe spacing for development. My husband has the adult ones and loves them, and I’m ordering myself a pair too!

The strap version feels a little bigger/wider than the laced ones of the same size I recommend measuring your child’s foot and consulting the size guide before ordering.

Air quality alerts spreading across the Midwest from wildfire smoke have us hunkered down inside today 🥲 always thankful for our space to play, build, imagine and grow 🫶🏻

I bought my first @waytoplaytoys road set for my oldest son’s 3rd birthday. It is bittersweet to see how Mitch they have grown and still love these roads (and now the amazing arches). The Civil Engineer in me is just giddy when I get to build an invitation to play 🥰

Playroom staples that I love (that will grow with your kids). Kid spaces can be so overwhelming to design, right? The number of toys and products on the market is enough to make someone go crazy, especially a first time mom! These are a few things I’ve recommended year over year that have stood the test of time and my three kiddos as they’ve grown.

A few helpful tips:
- quality wins. Products made of quality materials that can last for years and multiple kids are a far better investment than lots of disposable toys.
- build big collections of a few things. Think wooden block sets, MAGNA-TILES, arches. When you have a lot of the same set the possibilities for play and imagination grow!
- have a soft place to land. Whether that’s a couch, some cushions, a @shwallyhome play mat (which I’d highly recommend), if it’s a comfortable place to hang out, it will be a place they want to stay.

The boys (and mom and dad) have been having way too much fun with our new @waytoplaytoys arches 🙈 the possibilities for open-ended play are truly endless, and I can’t wait to start combining them with our small world builds!

Learning lately has looked different every day. Some days are filled with mostly free play, some involve a bit of structured learning like number and letter matching. Every day I’m thankful for the opportunity to be the one to teach my kiddos, and I’ll cherish it for as long as we’re able to do it.

Never did I think I’d be a homeschool mom. It wasn’t an overnight decision, but a subtle shift in beliefs. A slow awakening to the way I want to live our lives. To be together more, to be the biggest influence in their little lives, to protect PLAY and time in nature. To let my boys be boys as long as I can.

Homeschool will evolve for us. There will be a day when we’re using our chalkboards and books more, maybe following curriculum and measuring success in different ways. But today it looks like this: a little different every day, led by play, and together as a family as much as possible 🫶🏻
