Happy New Year everyone!

What was one of your favorite projects from 2021!? I’m finally sharing one of mine that I’ve been meaning to share for a long time, but you know… life.

I was so excited when @sgervino4 and her husband drew wanted to go ahead with the navy grasscloth wall paper from Serena and Lily! Don’t you just love how rich and eye catching it is?! It really made their dining room pop. I hope they’ve been enjoying having it all finished through the holidays :)

And with this coming year one of my resolutions is to finally be able to make time to be more active on social media and #LTKit. As a first step I did take the time to tag all items we used here in case your resolution is to spruce up your home this year and you’re interested in something we used in this space ! It’s that time of year again! Time to get your outdoor spaces set up and ready to entertain... if that is ever a thing again :/
In the process of helping one of my clients with their new outdoor space I came across some really great outdoor sofas that I wanted to share with you all. Happy Sunday! I know a lot of people struggle with how to decorate book shelves and so I wanted to do a little mini post on some basic tips.
1. Make it symmetrical and make sure each shelf has a balanced amount of items. The items don’t have to match exactly but should be similar in size.
2. Pick a couple colors/tones and work within those; too many colors, wood tones, or metals can be distracting or just look busy.
3. Plants (especially fake ones that don’t need to be watered!) add a soft finish.

With mine I picked mostly white and gray items, light wood tones and gold accents.

Finally sharing the mirror we chose for our dining room. I have the hardest time picking mirrors and art because I have such expensive taste and just can never find something I love within the price point I want to be in. But after almost a year of not having a mirror here and desperately wanting to finish the space I took the leap with this one and I’m so happy I did. It really completes the space and I couldn’t be happier with it. I love neutral decor with a pop of navy and I was so happy that this was the direction my clients wanted to go in! Didn’t their living room come out amazing?
Since the couch they picked from Pottery Barn was so large and they had such a large amount of empty space in the room to fill, we opted for a double coffee table and I’m loving it! This look can be achieved by ordering two of almost any rectangular coffee table and positioning them together as one. I’m really loving the rustic finish with the navy accents as well.
I’d also like to draw your attention to the sneak peak of their almost finished dining room in the background! I’m so excited to share that space with you guys as well; spoiler alert we used my absolute favorite navy blue grass cloth wall paper from Serena and Lily and it is fantastic!

It only took me 4 tries to find the perfect entry way runner... 4th times the charm??😬 But really I can’t say enough good things about this rug: it’s beautiful and works with so many different styles, it’s thick but not too thick, and soft while also being durable. If I could pick one rug that I could probably make work in any room it would be this one! I’m currently thinking of new ways I can use it in other spaces in our house!

This is a classic example of how you can really change the entire look of a room while keeping your existing furniture. Whether you have antique pieces you just can’t part with or if it’s just not in the budget to change out big pieces, you can always work with what you have and still make a big change. This is something I truly enjoy doing for my clients.
In here we added my favorite area rug of all time; I’m not kidding, I’m obsessed with this Pottery Barn rug and will be sharing where I ended up putting it in my own house tomorrow. We switched out the wallpaper for something lighter; however, my client really loves red and so it was something she still wanted to incorporate. This Serena and Lily wallpaper was the perfect fit! (It comes in gray and blue as well.) We changed the chandelier for something that fit the space better and got new sconces that complimented it. Then the double layered curtain rods, with the linen top curtain and sheer lower layer serve two purposes: 1. Making the room feel very classic and elegant and 2. The sheer layer underneath allows for the natural light to come in while still giving some privacy during the day and then the second curtain can be pulled at night for an extra level of privacy if desired. We also ordered some beautiful fabric (also from Serena and Lily) to reupholster her existing chairs and it honestly made these chairs one of my favorite parts of the room; Aren’t they gorgeous?!
Finally we topped the room off with my favorite part to any room - a gorgeous mirror. I ended up getting the exact same one for my dining room too and keep meaning to share it! So stay tuned for that as well.

Bathrooms are my favorite! I wish I could have implemented all the different looks when we did our own house, but sadly we only had 2.5 bathrooms to design as we wished. However that is one of the best parts about helping others with interior design; I’m able to channel my creative energy towards other peoples spaces and live vicariously through their spaces.

It definitely helps when you’re working with a plant lover too because she just happened to have all these plants on hand! And who doesn’t love this much greenery in a white crisp clean bathroom?! We had been looking for a place for these shelves for a long time and they just fit perfectly. Also they’re super affordable if anyone is looking for something similar. Our kitchen counter stools arrived this week! I’m soooo excited about them and absolutely love the way they change the look of our kitchen. Also they are super affordable, which is great no matter what, but even more so when you have young kids and foresee them getting trashed!

I went back and forth on whether or not we should add anything into the middle of our master closet, mainly because I didn’t want to make the space feel smaller or closed in. But I’m so glad we went for it! I’m loving how the rug softens the space and the ottoman is so pretty and also convenient. They’re very simple items but they really make the space feel complete. I don’t normally share this sort of content but I’m absolutely obsessed with these leather flats from Frye. So I STILL haven’t pulled the trigger on new island chairs. I had my mind made up but then after seeing how destroyed these got in just a year I can’t bring myself to spend $750 per chair on the ones I really want from Serena and Lily. My main problem is I love a chair with at least some fabric but I know with a 3 year old it’s just not a good choice unless they’re pretty inexpensive. I really love these ones we got originally but my daughter has just destroyed them 🤦🏼‍♀️.

I’ve been missing in action on social media lately because, aside from all the drama this year has been serving us all, I’ve been taking on a bunch of new design projects! I’ve truly been loving helping loving others both locally and from a distance. I can’t wait to share some of the finished photos of local projects I’ve been involved in, but for now I wanted to share this eat-in kitchen redesign that I finished last night. In this situation they wanted to use some of their existing pieces from Restoration Hardware, but overall wanted to take the whole look from country to more of a modern farmhouse feel. It is a rare occasion when my hair isn’t up in a messy bun and I’m wearing something other than leggings. So naturally I took the opportunity to document it. So a couple things have happened recently that I feel are worth sharing. First, we finally had the posts installed at the end of our island! Don’t they look great?! I think they really make the whole thing look finished. And second, my husband has finally admitted that our island chairs were a mistake 😂. Only 6 months of quarantine and them getting covered in yogurt, milk, chocolate, etc. So I yet again find myself on the hunt for counter height chairs - this time not upholstered! I will say that these actually have held up great but I never scotch guarded them (🤦🏼‍♀️) and so I am constantly having to clean them and if not they just look gross. Luckily these were relatively inexpensive and at least very pretty to look at. They’re doneeee! Well almost- we still have to touch up some of the paint and add the handles but otherwise they’re complete 🙌🏼. We all know how important it is for our kids self-esteem and sense of accomplishment to have their art/school work put on display by their parents. And so with the start of the new school year I thought I’d share what I’m doing in our home. It was a challenge in our new house to find a good spot to display our daughters school work without being able to stick anything to our fridge. In lieu of that option I wanted something that was pretty enough to put on display in our kitchen and was also big enough to hold lots of her art projects. So here is what I came up with 🙌🏼. It’s simple but I think a lot of people dismiss the power of a beautiful cork board and in this instance it really just works for us. During the search for decorative items for our new built-ins I stumbled upon the perfect coffee table book- “For the love of white: The white and neutral home”! I’m not sure a more appropriate book could sit upon our coffee table and so of course I had to buy it! I’m going to do some white and natural pieces, but I’m also going to include a lot of gold in the decor to warm up the space and include some much needed metal. Only the day of school for my daughter and I’m already feeling like my old self again! I met with a lovely couple this morning who hired me to do some interior design work in their home and then after that I was able to clean of my ENTIRE house (minus the current construction site in our living room 😬). Don’t get me wrong, I loved having the quality time with my family during quarantine, but I was about to snap without the much needed time to get things accomplished! Anyone else feel like ‘back to school’ came exactly at the right time? Now let’s just pray the schools stay open so I can get used to seeing my kitchen looking like this 🙌🏼.
