There’s certainly power in positivity, but ignoring the dark aspects of yourself and life will only lead to a narrow, imbalanced perspective. That’s why ignoring negative thoughts or trying to suppress them doesn’t make them go away. . . We are two halves of one whole self that is both light and dark. The shadow aspects of ourselves are usually not fun to face, but it’s vital to do the work to integrate these aspects into our whole self. . . Some of my dark aspects include emotional eating, isolationism, trust issues that lead me to assume the worst of everyone, and a tendency to push myself beyond healthy limits that can often end up with me over working myself or trying to “do it all” and then having a meltdown. . .
