5 of the biggest mistakes we make when shopping ☝🏻 Shopping well is almost an art form. There’s so much to keep in mind, and it’s incredibly easy to get swept up and buy things we don’t actually want or need. Here are five of the most common mistakes I see (and have made myself): 1. Rushing a purchase. When we’re in a hurry, we grab the first thing that feels “good enough”, and later realise there was a better option out there. This is why impulse shopping rarely works out. Every time we buy something, we’re also saying no to something else we might have loved more. 2. Not using discounts or waiting for sales. This often goes hand-in-hand with rushing. We want the item right now and pay full price… only to see it discounted a week later. A little patience or research can save a surprising amount of money. 3. Missing out on cashback or points. If you pay your credit card off in full each month, you might as well let it work for you. Points and cashback add up so quickly. It’s literally how I paid for my flights to Antigua over Christmas. 4. Shopping from the same brands every time. There’s nothing wrong with having favourites, but most brands excel in specific categories. Mixing it up usually gives you better quality across your wardrobe. And if you want to build your personal style, you can’t rely on one brand’s aesthetic to do it for you. 5. Not listening to yourself. It doesn’t matter what your mum, best friend or the sales assistant says. They don’t live in your clothes. Buy the things you genuinely love and feel great in.
