This is why you hate your wardrobe

(And I will also give you the solutions to fix it.)

1. You have too many items, and most of them are mismatched, tied to old trends, or pieces you once loved but no longer want to wear.

The solution – A proper clear-out is the only way to solve this. Without it, you will never be able to see or reach the items you actually want to wear.

2. Your wardrobe is living in either the past or the future. You are holding on to styles and pieces that defined you years ago and no longer suit or fit, or you are keeping aspirational items you plan to wear “one day”.

Solution – Remove anything that doesn’t align with who you are today, the body you have now and the lifestyle you are living in the present.

3. You don’t have a plan when you shop. You buy into trends and items you think you’re “meant” to own instead of what you actually need and want.

Solution – Create a buying plan before you shop. Review what you own, assess the gaps, and identify the pieces that will make the rest of your wardrobe work harder for you.

There are plenty more reasons and solutions for why you might hate your wardrobe. Are any of the three above true for you, or is there another reason?

The 5 looks of Christmas ✨

Being Swedish means Christmas Eve is the main event. We dress up properly; a beautiful dress, heels, something sparkly and spend the evening eating, drinking and celebrating before Santa arrives to hand out gifts to the children. It has always been the highlight of the season for me.

But living in the UK means we mix traditions. We split the presents in two, with a few opened on Christmas Eve and the rest saved for Christmas morning. It gives us two full days of celebration instead of just one, which I secretly love.

Christmas Day always includes a long walk, followed by the full British Christmas dinner with crackers and those paper crowns I’ve grown surprisingly fond of.

And by Boxing Day, we finish it all off with a slow, cosy pub brunch.

It’s the perfect blend of both worlds for us.

How do you celebrate Christmas in your family? Any unique traditions you look forward to every year?

A complete small capsule wardrobe for the office 👌🏻

This edit is designed to be flexible. You can keep it as tight as six pieces or build it out to twelve if you want more variety. It all depends on your lifestyle, how formal your office is, and how often you like to rotate your looks.

I’m focusing on neutrals here because most of us already know how to wear black in a corporate setting. Neutrals make everything feel softer, more elevated, and every piece works just as well in other colours if you prefer a different palette.

The foundation is simple: high quality materials, clean shapes and great tailoring. Make sure that each piece is well chosen and it will all come together beautifully.

Footwear-wise, I’d add a pair of nude pumps, cream or beige ballerinas, and a smart loafer to tie the whole wardrobe together.

Save this post for when you are putting your own workwear wardrobe together or send it to someone who might need a little help.

5 types of Christmas girlies 🌲

Are you more of a quiet luxury, old money, comfy & cosy, minimalist or a hostess?

I’m a mix of the first two myself.

Quiet Luxury:
Think elevated essentials in beautiful fabrics. Cashmere, soft tailoring, tonal layers and jewellery that whispers rather than shouts. Polished, understated, effortless.

Old Money:
Structured silhouettes, heritage textures, deep winter tones and classic accessories. The kind of look that feels timeless no matter the year or trend cycle.

Comfy & Cosy:
Chunky knits, warm neutrals, relaxed fits, and soft textures you want to sink into. Comfort first, but still curated and intentional.

Minimalist:
Clean lines, monochrome palettes and simplicity with purpose. Every element is considered, and nothing is added without meaning.

The Hostess:
Chic dresses, elegant separates and refined accessories that feel festive but still functional. The lady who looks perfectly put-together while making the whole evening run smoothly.

An elegant Christmas outfit

The idea of being “overdressed” has never made much sense to me.

You can misread a dress code or arrive underdressed, but true elegance is never out of place. If anything, it sets the tone for the entire moment.

Life is far too short to let our beautiful pieces sit waiting for the “perfect” occasion. Wear the things that make you feel extra. Choose the outfit that reflects who you are, not just where you’re going. Genuine style is never a mismatch, it’s a statement.

And my One Item a Month purchase for November is…

…these incredible winter boots by @bogner.

I was hoping they would go into the Black Friday sale. They didn’t, and when I saw the sizes starting to disappear, I decided to get them anyway.

I’m so glad I did. They have that old-money St. Moritz feel that fits my winter wardrobe perfectly.

They will be ideal for our Sweden trip in a couple of weeks and also for skiing.

Start your 2026 with a wardrobe reset!

The question I hear more than anything else:
Tess… I want a wardrobe I actually love, but I have no idea where to start.

And honestly, I get it. Most people don’t have a fashion problem; they have an overwhelm problem. Too much noise, too many options, and no real framework to make sense of it.

For a long time I thought the answer needed to be a big glossy book. But I know myself: I like things that are clear, practical, and actually work. So instead, I built something much simpler and far more effective.

That’s how the “7 Day Wardrobe Reset” came to life.
It’s the exact process I’ve refined over six years of trial, error, and hundreds of real wardrobes. It takes you from “I don’t even know what my style is” to “I finally feel in control of my closet” in a way that feels doable, not daunting.

This is essentially what I do with my private clients, but the DIY version.

You can complete it in a focused week, or stretch it out if you prefer a slower rhythm. Either way, it consistently transforms even the most chaotic wardrobes into a clean, confident foundation you can build your dream style on.

If this feels like the reset you’ve been craving, just comment “reset” and I’ll send it straight to you.
If you want the outfit details instead, comment “link” and I’ll DM you. Both are also in my bio.

What I wore in November…

…it was a busy month with some wonderful highlights;

2 castles, an Irish night out with @sineadkearythelabel , a private concert with @jamiecullum, educational lunch with @sweedbeauty all wrapped up by an absolutely magical evening at the ballet for the opening night of the nutcracker with @audiuk 🩰

I like to pretend that all my months are as glamorous and exciting as this one. But let’s not forget all the school runs, food shops, horse rides and sports fixtures to watch in-between.

Coming into December I predict some fun Christmas party dresses and more warming layers. I’m also off to Sweden for a week, and then we are talking proper cold weather dressing ❄️

Which look of the above is your favourite?

5 of the biggest mistakes we make when shopping ☝🏻

Shopping well is almost an art form. There’s so much to keep in mind, and it’s incredibly easy to get swept up and buy things we don’t actually want or need.

Here are five of the most common mistakes I see (and have made myself):

1. Rushing a purchase.

When we’re in a hurry, we grab the first thing that feels “good enough”, and later realise there was a better option out there.
This is why impulse shopping rarely works out. Every time we buy something, we’re also saying no to something else we might have loved more.

2. Not using discounts or waiting for sales.

This often goes hand-in-hand with rushing. We want the item right now and pay full price… only to see it discounted a week later.
A little patience or research can save a surprising amount of money.

3. Missing out on cashback or points.

If you pay your credit card off in full each month, you might as well let it work for you. Points and cashback add up so quickly.
It’s literally how I paid for my flights to Antigua over Christmas.

4. Shopping from the same brands every time.

There’s nothing wrong with having favourites, but most brands excel in specific categories.
Mixing it up usually gives you better quality across your wardrobe. And if you want to build your personal style, you can’t rely on one brand’s aesthetic to do it for you.

5. Not listening to yourself.

It doesn’t matter what your mum, best friend or the sales assistant says. They don’t live in your clothes.
Buy the things you genuinely love and feel great in. That’s how you build a wardrobe that actually works for you.

Which of these have you been guilty of? Would you add anything else to the list?

Come with us to the opening night of The Nutcracker at the Royal Opera house in London 🩰

Our amazing @audiuk family invited us to one of my favourite nights of the whole year - the opening night at the ballet.

This is the event that properly kicks off Christmas in our family. And this time was extra special as we were treated to a tour backstage where we got to see the making of the mice heads, how that Christmas tree actually grows and also got to meet some of the lovely cast and musicians.

It was a truly spectacular evening!

…when else can you wear a sparkly dress with a cape and fit in perfectly with the other snowflakes! ❄️

It was @warrenmeliaxs first time, and he powered through even though he just had a back operation earlier in the week.

He admitted his toxic trait was to be convinced he can dance like that if he really tried. As soon as he is better he will have to prance for me in the kitchen!

Autumnal mirror outfits 🍁

From watching my son’s sports fixtures and going for lunch to evening events and our engagement party.

I always remember to snap a shot in the mirror to save, both as a memory, but also to pop in my wardrobe library for later.

One of the absolute best tools to make dressing in the mornings easy is to be diligent with mirror selfies.

All I now need to do when I’m in a rush is to flip through the photos in my “autumn wardrobe” folder and pick a look I know I already feel comfortable and confident wearing.

Small but mighty, a great 100% wool turtleneck is one of those pieces people often overlook. But it’s the queen of layering.

Five shirt hacks you need to know ☝🏻

This is how to win the sales and do some clever shopping towards your dream wardrobe. 💪🏻

Sales get a bad reputation in the slow-fashion world, and often for good reason. They can lead straight to impulse purchases and pieces that never truly earn their place in your wardrobe.

But there is a clever way to shop them without falling into that trap.

Start by focusing on the dream items that are usually just outside your budget. With the right discount, these pieces often become attainable.

Make a wishlist well in advance, get really clear on what you genuinely want, and when the sales begin… look for those items only.

The other smart strategy is to buy the pieces you naturally go through: underwear, socks, everyday t-shirts. The items you replace regularly anyway.

I make sure to buy these from sustainable brands, because unlike my investment pieces, I know I’ll need to refresh them from time to time.

This way, sales become a tool, not a temptation. And every purchase moves you closer to your long-term wardrobe goals.

Here’s a little hack to help you fall back in love with the clothes you already own. 🤍

We’re using Pinterest for this one.

Pick a few pieces in your wardrobe that you adore but, for some reason, never seem to wear.
Search Pinterest for outfits featuring that exact item (or something very close). Save three looks you genuinely love into a folder on your phone.

Now try recreating those outfits.
Sometimes you realise you already have everything you need.
And sometimes you spot a small hole, a piece that would help you wear that item so much more.

If that missing piece would work with other things you own too, pop it on your wishlist. That’s what I call “wardrobe-led shopping.” You’re not wandering around hoping to be inspired to buy something new. You’re already inspired by what’s in your wardrobe and are finding ways to make it work harder for you.

It also stops you ending up with a random mix of trends or pieces that don’t really go together.

The Pinterest hack just shows you what’s possible, and honestly, sometimes you only need to see an item styled in a new way for everything to click.

Is this something you would try?

Why I barely ever buy jewellery 💎

None of the pieces I wear are particularly expensive, but they mean a lot to me. Their value isn’t in the price that was paid for them.

I’m asked quite often why I don’t switch up my jewellery more, and the truth is that almost every piece I own has a story or a reason behind it.

I could add more to my collection, but I don’t feel drawn to wear things that don’t hold the same meaning as the ones I already love.

Most of my pieces are timeless, beautifully made, and have been with me for years.

Even if we don’t all grow up with heirloom jewellery, we can still choose pieces that will stand the test of time and, hopefully, be passed down one day.

That’s what makes jewellery special to me, it carries a sense of history, even if the history starts with us.

Do you have a special piece of jewellery that feels significant or carries a memory?

This really was a night with Irish flair. ☘️

@sineadkearythelabel invited me and my bestie for a sleepover in an Irish castle, and honestly… how incredible does that sound? And it truly was!

We popped on our best matching looks and were treated to the loveliest dinner with an amazing group of ladies, all to the sound of a proper Irish violin.

And just when we thought the night was winding down, Sinead whisked us off to an Irish pub, handed out mini Guinness (I’m convinced they were mostly Baileys), and then somehow ended up leading an impromptu karaoke session.

We had so much fun. These Irish ladies really know how to plan a night.

Couples autumn wardrobes to match? 🍂

I’ve realised how much easier it is for men to dress in summer than in autumn or winter.

When it’s warm, it’s linen shirts, loafers and easy neutrals, job done. But once the temperature drops, it gets trickier.

This week we spent a day in London visiting different stores, from @suitsupply to @hackettlondon, trying to define Warren’s autumn and winter style and start building his capsule wardrobe.

The aim isn’t to fill the wardrobe but to get the foundations right. Pieces he’ll actually wear, that feel timeless and well made, and that work for everything from weekends to dinners and events.

We’re thinking suits that can be worn as separates, classic cuts with longevity, and a subtle nod to heritage and gentlemanly style.

It’s been fascinating to see how much thought goes into men’s dressing when it’s done properly.

As someone who’s always focused on womenswear, helping Warren shape his own wardrobe has been both refreshing and inspiring.

Which menswear brands do you really like and think we should look at next?

My #OneItemAMonth purchase for October 👏🏻

This is a classic I can’t believe I didn’t already own!

An @hermes Twilly is one of those pieces that might not look like much, but is incredibly useful because it can be worn in so many different ways - around the neck, on a bag, in your hair…
It’s such a lovely, timeless accessory.

I bought mine pre-loved from @vestiaireco. I chose this particular one because one side features warmer beige and brown tones, while the other side has slightly cooler white and grey shades. It makes it so much more versatile!

Forget Paris - Go to a Scottish castle 🏰

We escaped to @crossbasketcastle for a few slow days surrounded by history, elegance and romance from the old world.

Mornings lingered in soft sheets and sunlight, coffee served with no rush and endless conversation.

Afternoons were for country walks through golden leaves and quiet moments in hidden corners of the castle.

And when evening came we dressed for dinner at @trocaderosscot , where live jazz filled the room and art deco glamour set the tone.

It was the perfect balance of culture and calm, heritage and style, a reminder that sometimes, the most romantic places are the ones closest to home.

The first thing I ask all my private clients is to show me their shapewear. Most often, they have none.

The misconception that shapewear is only for those who want to look slimmer can make us feel like it’s not for us.

However, even though shapewear can have a slimming effect, you should see it more as a primer for your body. It gives you that perfect, clean canvas to build your outfit on top of.

The benefits are too many to ignore - no VPL, no back bulges, no double boob, no odd bows or lace showing through. It also helps prevent chafing, snagging, and static. Plus, it keeps me warm, gives my stomach a bit of support after a big dinner, and protects my modesty in case of any slips or wardrobe malfunctions.

It’s truly a game changer and should have a place in every wardrobe.

All my shapewear is by @honeylove - they’re the most comfortable and highest quality pieces I’ve ever tried.

At the moment, they have their Black Friday Preview Sale with up to 50% off sitewide until Black Friday, when discounts will go up to 60% off sitewide.
