5 items in my March capsule wardrobe

It’s that weird in-between time when some days we have cold weather and others it’s so wonderfully springlike here in the UK.

So what I’m bring out form my wardrobe in March will have to cater for my transeasonal needs.

1. Cream waistcoat by @lilysilk.
I love the structure and it has that rare wearability both for a more every day kind of look up to really quite smart. It’s definitely an underestimated piece in my wardrobe.

2. Tweed skirt by @goelia_official
You can get away with almost anything when you are wearing tweed. It’s a very elegant fabric and I love the juxtaposition of using it for a mini skirt.

3. Angora jumpers by @loversfriendsla
This is such a transeasonal hero. It’s warm, but kind of shows a little skin, and works really well with skirts and dresses.

4. Greige suede boots boots by @lkbennettlondon.
I absolutely love the texture and as the heel is only 8.5cm high I can wear them all day long.

5. Cream coat by @reiss.
It’s made in wool, but not lined. So it’s not really a winter coat but works perfectly in early spring.

Gorgeous dresses for spring 🌷

#LTKWedding #LTKOver40 #LTKSeasonal
The 5 timeless dresses I wear every summer.

I don’t need a lot more to be honest, maybe something for black tie and an actual beach dress. But after that I feel like I could cover basically any occasions with these dresses.

And I rather re-wear a beautifully made elegant piece than buy new trend-led dresses that I will only wear for a season.

Do you prefer dress 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5?

What are your standards?
For a long time I thought that getting somewhere in life relied on goals.

Set the right goal. Work hard enough. Eventually you get there.
But the older I get, the more I realise that outcomes have much more to do with standards.

The standards you hold for how you work.
How you spend your time.
How you take care of your body.
How you present yourself.
And what you are willing to tolerate around you.

There’s that saying that you become the five people you spend the most time with.

I used to think that was a bit over exaggerated. But once I understood that it was about standards and not personalities the penny dropped.

The people around you shape what feels normal.
What level of effort you expect.
What kind of behaviour you accept.
What ambitions seem realistic.

Over time I’ve realised that if you want a different life, it often starts with raising your standards.

For yourself, sure. But also for the people around you.

Tweed is for old ladies…

If by old you mean elegant, sure. It’s by far one of the most classic and timeless fabrics you can wear.

There are many different ways to style tweed, everything from laid back Parisian chic to English heritage countryside. Just make it yours.

This is what old families do differently;

We get taught from a young age to pick the items we want carefully. To choose excellent quality and timelessness that will stand the test of time.

A truly great purchase is one that will be loved and worn repeatedly, and later handed down to the next generation.

We are raised to see every large purchase as a potential future heirloom.
It’s a very mindful and sustainable way of consuming.

We don’t truly own anything, we are just the keepers for the next generation.

5 items I always pack for a warm holiday

No matter where I’m going, if the weather is warm these five things are always in my suitcase.

1. A really good swimsuit
If I could only bring one piece of swimwear, it would be a well-fitting swimsuit. It stays put if I’m swimming or doing anything active, always feels appropriate, and some styles double beautifully as a top in the evening.

2. A slightly oversized white shirt
This is my favourite beach cover-up. But it’s also one of the most versatile things you can pack. I wear it as a shirt, tied as a crop top, over a swimsuit, or even styled into a dress.

3. A pair of white shorts
Easy in the daytime with a swimsuit or shirt, but just as good in the evening with a pair of heels and a nice top.

4. A pair of beautiful sandals
For when I want to look polished without wearing heels. A good pair will work with everything in your suitcase.

5. A large scarf
Perfect for the flight, for cooler evenings, or as an extra styling piece. You can wear it as a wrap, or even style it into tops, skirts or dresses if needed.

What’s the one thing you never travel without?

5 completely free ways to upgrade your wardrobe today.

1. Clear out.
The biggest problem with most wardrobes is the amount of clothes in there. Very rarely we have too few items, most of the time we have way too many.
The problem is that you can’t see the pieces you actually want to wear when all the other stuff is hiding them.
Clear out and you will find that your style will instantly streamline.

2. Play with your wardrobe.
We get set in certain ways and combinations we wear our clothes. And if we never play around and try new matchings we will miss out massively. Amazing outfits don’t just happen, they need to be built through experimentation.

3. Moodboard your dream style.
If you don’t know where you want to go, how are you ever meant to get there? Make sure you understand exactly what you want your style to look like, feel like and say about you. Then slowly build your way towards that. A moodboard is an excellent place to start.

4. Display your clothes well.
It’s much more inspiring to choose outfits from a wardrobe where the pieces are clean, steamed and hanged properly. Presentation affects creativity and the perception we have of our wardrobe. Respect your clothes and you will feel better wearing them.

5. Style your outfits properly.
Tuck in or up, cuff and push. Add jewellery, belts, shoes and bags. Don’t be afraid of trying new ways to add that bit of extra interest to a look. This is what keeps your style alive and evolving. Have fun trying new ways to style your old items.

If I could go back to 20 something Tess, I would tell her;

The man you pick to walk through life with is your biggest investment, so please choose carefully.

Pick the person who doesn’t just love you, but truly supports you as well. The one who will celebrate your wins without playing “devils advocate” and respects your dreams and goals as much as you do his.

You are not here to live a supporting role to someone else’s ego. Don’t allow yourself to believe that you are less deserving or capable.

Choose someone who won’t try to run ahead of you or slow you down. The one who is secure enough to walk beside you and hold your hand. Who will race with you when things go well and pick you up when you fall.

Because you will fall. And that’s ok.

Find the partner that wont belittle your dreams and tell you “told you so” when something doesn’t go your way. Don’t settle for anything less than “everything will be alright, just try again. I believe in you and I know you can do it.”

Partnership is about mutual cheerleading, not supporting roles. You grow together or not at all.

When you get this right, magical things will happen. 🤍

Jeans are boring

… well they can be. They are rarely the focal point of an outfit and usually play more of a supportive role as a basic.

All that means is that they need more styling not to look bland. Match them with really personal pieces and don’t be afraid to accessorise and jeans will be anything but boring.

Here are the 5 types of jeans you can find in my wardrobe right now. They each have their own personality and I wear them in very different ways.

Do you prefer jean 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5?

Let’s go to the BRIT awards with @audiuk ✨

This is my second year attending @brits and this time not in London, but in Manchester.

And what a night! There is no other time you get to see so many incredible artists on one stage in one night. Absolutely amazing! My favourite performance was @rosalia.vt with @bjork. It was beautifully breathtaking.

I had two dresses to choose from and I packed 3(!) pairs of shoes, just to be on the safe side. In the end I chose the blue dress (mainly as the hotel iron didn’t really do the white one justice) and my favourite (very comfortable) blue and white heels.

Audi had organised a chauffeured A8 to take me to and from the event and an overnight stay at @wildeaparthotels for the occasion.

I couldn’t imagine a more comfortable car to spend 4 hours each way in. I did a face mask and my gua sha on the way there and had a nice long nap on the way back.

Thank you so much @audiuk for having me and to @thelaurablair, @rowanrow and the awesome Audi team for the best company.

How to never make a bad purchase again 👏🏻

Every time you are about to buy something new for your wardrobe, ask yourself these 7 questions -

1. Can I afford it? - No piece of clothing, shoes or bag is worth getting into debt for

2. Do I need it? - want and need are different things, learn to know the difference

3. Do I love it? - never settle for things you only like when there are items you would love out there.

4. Would I wear it for at least 5 years? - is it timeless enough or is it a trend that will pass?

5. Will the quality allow it to last for 5 years? - think about Price per wear and always get the highest possible quality for your money.

6. Can you find it cheaper somewhere else? - pre loved, discount codes and sales are great ways to get better for our budget.

7. Can you match it in at least 3 outfits with items you already own in your wardrobe? - if not, return it!!

I use these questions whenever I buy anything for my wardrobe. I hope you found this useful. ❤️

Come with us on our Valentines date ❤️

@warrenmeliax takes Valentines seriously, and he booked us in to two of my absolute favourite places for a perfect evening out in London.

First we went to our fish and seafood go-to @scottsmayfair for seafood bisque, grilled prawns and Devon crab linguine.

Then we finished the night on a high, literally, at @thenestintreehouse with amaretto sours overlooking all of London.

I highly recommend both for an absolutely wonderful date night out in London.

He truly knows how to make me happy on Valentines ❤️

How a normal person can afford a luxury wardrobe.

It’s not about being wealthy, is about spending the budget we have on the right items.

1. Set your budget realistically, and stick to it. Only ever buy what you can afford.

2. Make a dream wish list of items you desire to have in your wardrobe. Dream big, medium and small.

3. Consider spending your full monthly budget on only 1 or 2 slightly more expensive pieces instead of several cheaper ones.

4. Use pre-loved, (including thrifting!) sales and discount codes to make unattainable items affordable and get as much as possible out of your budget.

5. Start ticking off your dream items.

Give it a try and see how it goes. If it’s not for you, then that’s completely fine. However, it might also change your life.

Come with us for a fun evening in London 🍸

You know how much I love a pretty dress and a night out in London.

We booked ourselves (and Olive 🐶) into the gorgeous @egerton_house hotel. It’s perfectly situated between South Kensington and Knightsbridge on a quiet street in the middle or the best area in London. If you are looking for a true old money style hotel, this is it.

We left the pooch to snooze in the hotel and walked down to the Kings Road and the opening of the first ever @needleandthreadlondon shop. It was like walking in to a sea of sequins! Every where you turn was a dress more gorgeous than the last.

… then a 5 minute walk and we reached our dinner destination - @daphneslondon. I have been going here for 20 years and I’m never disappointed. They serve the best pasta vongole and tiramisu in all of London. With the most polite and attentive service. (A little tip, ask to be seated in the conservatory).

If I could plan an evening in London for you, a stay at Egerton house and dinner at Daphnes (wearing a Needle and thread dress) would be up there.

My best styling tips if you want to look taller.

As someone who is 5’5 who was a professional model for 20 years, I have had to do my very best with what I was given.

The illusion of height often comes from long limbs, so anything that makes your legs and arms look longer will trick the eye that you are taller.

ad | This is the unsung hero of any great wardrobe.

Do not make the mistake of underestimating what good shapewear can do for your outfits and your confidence.

It’s the primer to your foundation. Once you start using it, you won’t go back.

One of the main things shape-wear does is making sure that your outfits sits the way it should and stays put. So you don’t have to think about your clothes and can focus on what you are doing instead.

I get all my shape-wear from @HoneyLove they make the most comfortable, high quality and well fitting pieces I have come across.
If you don’t already have some, I would suggest you go and check them out.

5 hero items in February

These are the items I’m wearing in repeat this month.

1. My black silk trousers by @lilysilk. Smart, flattering and translate very well from day to night.

2. A romantic blouse by @goelia_official. I’m in a frilly blouse mood at the moment and this one is perfect.

3. The mesh detailed top by @marcellanyc that I can style so many different ways.

4. My warm wool turtleneck jumper by @reiss. It has a really lovely structure for a knit. I’m basically living in it.

5. The wool blazer by @selfwhoofficial that’s allowing me to look put together and stay warm at the same time.

Fast fashion was keeping me poor.

I kept buying things that felt exciting for a moment, but rarely survived more than a few washes, and by then they were already out of fashion anyway.

My wardrobe filled up, but I never felt welldressed.
And the money kept disappearing into pieces that gave nothing back.

Individually the purchases were small.
Added together, not so much.

Once I actually calculated it, I realised I could have owned the pieces I truly wanted years earlier.

Chasing trends is exhausting. You never arrive, you barely keep up.

So I stopped telling myself it was all I could afford, and started buying less but better.

The difference between a rich and a poor wardrobe.

It has to do with money, but not budget.

As an ex-shopaholic who has been slowly converting my poor fast fashion heavy wardrobe into one that is rich and filled with valuable pieces, I have picked up a few tips and tricks along the way.

The most important revelation is that the difference between the two comes down to time, energy and what we choose to buy more than how much money we actually have.

There are rich and poor ways of choosing and buying and it doesn’t have much to do with your actual budget.

If you want to know more about how I did it and take your wardrobe from rich to poor, just follow me and I will show you how.

What is your personal style saying about you?

First impressions are not just a handshake or whether you remember someone’s name. They begin much earlier than that.

We get clues about who someone is the moment they step into a room. Body language and what we choose to wear help people form expectations and understand how to place us.

This is another reason why it’s so important to know your personal style, so the first impression you give truly does you justice as a person.

A few more things I find terribly chic. 👌🏻

You can find part 1 on my feed from last week.

The things I find chic are not always items. They can also be very elegant quirks or behaviours that say something about a person.

The way someone carries themselves and interacts with the world around them can flatter how they come across in a way that clothes simply cannot.

This is why elegance is so much more than what’s on the outside, and often the difference between being well-raised and new money.

Some things money just can’t buy.

A week of English heritage inspired looks.

Sturdy boots, proper checks, freshly pressed white shirts and blouses, with a nod to the stables and a hint of granny chic.

Comfortable, presentable, and quietly confident. Does the job.

The best part? You don’t have to be British to wear it.

Short girls should never wear long skirts.

Poppycock.

That rule shows up in almost every petite style guide and it’s nonsense.

Good dressing isn’t about rules. It’s about proportion, balance, and intention.

I love long skirts and dresses. I’m 5’5, and I wear them often. They feel elegant, feminine, and very much me.

Personally I like to balance the volume. A long, wide skirt works beautifully with a more fitted top on a my frame. But I also know some people who look amazing in a more oversized look.

The real problem with fashion “rules” is that they shrink us instead of giving us confidence.

What’s a fashion rule you refuse to follow?

An intentional goal I’m setting for 2026 is to not let anyone else define what wealth is to me.

Somewhere in it all I feel we got a little lost.
Wealth is not all Birkin bags, super cars and splashing cash.

In reality, chasing these exact things often makes us lose the riches we already have - autonomy over our time and the freedom of choosing where and who we want to spend it with.

My philosophy for 2026 is to own less, but do more. I want to live a curated life where I romanticise all the little moments that are special to me.

Pick a few skills and hobbies, do them well. Choose a few very specific items for my wardrobe and wear them often. Embrace a few special people and cherish them truly.

The 3 goals I have set for myself for a wealthy life in 2026 is;

- Teach myself calligraphy.
- Take an intensive 3 day sommelier course.
- Go out on my first unaffiliated showjumping competition this spring.

How are you planning to live your wealthiest life in 2026?
