I’ve spent more time this past month working on elementary school projects than I have since...ummm...I was in elementary school I guess? Trying to get everything checked off the list before we head out for spring break! The past two days I was helping my 4th grader with a family immigration project and pulled out a photo of my Italian great-grandparents around the time they got married (swipe left to see it). The story goes that my great-grandfather, Giulio, immigrated to the US, made some money, then went back to his hometown in Italy to fetch his intended wife. But her father said she wasn’t next in line, so Giulio could marry his oldest daughter or else go on his merry way.
