I don't like to speak in absolutes, but as a man who just added a 6th pair of white sneakers to his wardrobe, I can confidently say that absolutely every one of us needs a pair of white sneakers year-round.

Can we all just agree that smart casual styling is the right way to go?

I don’t find myself in a lot of formal or even business casual wear at this point in my life, but going smart casual gives me a chance to breathe new life into those dressy pieces.

For me, it’s adding in casual and street style elements to dress down more classic pieces.

I took the solid casual shirt (which is one my recent favorite pick ups from @express ) and added a white tank and left the buttons down to loosen the look up. Then, jewelry and heeled boot also helped here. #ExpressPartner #ExpressYou #ltkit

Stop separating your dress clothes from your casual clothes!

I used to think you had your dress clothes and your casual clothes (and your home clothes but that’s a whole other category) and neither crossed the line.

Since moving to NY, I’ve also learned that everybody has a completely different idea of what dressing up means. No two people show up to the same event wearing similar styles.

Here, clothes are just a vehicle for you to show your personality. Because of that, dress clothes can happily cross the line and play with your casual clothes. I actually love that kind of pairing more.

When does fashion become easy?

That’s a loaded question. Getting dressed is something that we do on a daily basis. You can’t really avoid it.

But some days are way harder than others. Monday, you might be running late so it’s hard to make hasty decisions. Tuesday, you might be down on yourself and your body so nothing feels good. Wednesday through Thursday could be a whole gambit of situations.

So what makes it easier? 1. Invest in pieces you love. Clear out everything else. I added this sweater and coat form @express because I knew I’d be happy wearing them no matter how I was feeling. #ExpressPartner #ExpressYou #ltkit

2. Don’t switch to complacency. It’s so easy to just stop caring, but that doesn’t actually make things easy. It’s taken me 10 years to finally know my style and know what belongs in my wardrobe.

To give yourself grace, experiment, and continue to move towards what makes you happy when you wear it. That makes fashion easier.

I find myself gravitating towards smart/street casual style (and low key remembering light layers of yester-week.)

Smart casual isn’t a well defined fashion category, but I find that it allows for a lot of experimentation. Pairing dressier pieces with casual or street style items creates something totally unique that’s also grounded in something recognizable.
