Here is what you do in large airports: Look at a map of that airport where you are getting picked up at or where you need to depart from. Airports have apps with a map too. See if you can walk to or ride a train to meet your pick up person at the less popular terminal or get dropped off at the less crowded terminal. For example in IAH most passengers are going to E because United is the big airline in Houston. In Atlanta the more crowded area is the South terminal because Delta is king there.
