SKIN🧴

By AshleyProvost

If I could go back to my 30s, these are the things I would start doing sooner.

• IPL once a year – helps undo sun damage and even out skin tone

• Focus on my skin barrier – when your barrier is healthy, your skin just looks calmer, smoother, and healthier-start skin lighting

• Red light therapy – helps support collagen and calm inflammation

• Weight training – one of the best things you can do for metabolism, muscle, and aging well

• CO2 laser – amazing for improving texture and stimulating collagen

• High-polyphenol olive oil – full of antioxidants that help fight inflammation and oxidative stress, which can affect how our skin ages

• Calm my nervous system daily – chronic stress shows up in your skin and your body

• Microneedling with PDGF – helps stimulate collagen, drastically improves texture and repairs the skin

• Skin stamping weekly – helps your skincare absorb better and supports skin renewal

• Rebounding after meals – great for circulation and lymphatic drainage

• Wear a hat + SPF – because the sun slowly breaks down collagen and is the biggest cause of wrinkles and dark spots

• Tretinoin a few nights a week – the gold standard for increasing cell turnover and supporting collagen

I linked the specific tools, treatments, and products I use here since I get asked about them all the time.

Melasma is incredibly stubborn, but these are the three categories that made the biggest difference for me.

1. Never letting this son hit my face
Melasma isn’t just triggered by UV — it’s also triggered by visible light. That’s why dermatologists often recommend tinted mineral sunscreens with zinc oxide and iron oxides. They help block both UV and visible light, which is key if you’re trying to prevent melasma from coming back. Consistent sun protection is really the foundation. I also don’t open the sunroof in my car and I always wear a hat or visor when I’m in the sun. I also got the UV film protection on my car windows (linked my favorite hats )

2. Pigment-fading creams
The Obagi hydroquinone cream is one of the most effective ways to fade existing melasma because it helps break up pigment in the skin — but you do need a prescription for it.

I also linked another Obagi cream that doesn’t require a prescription because it doesn’t contain hydroquinone. Instead, it uses arbutin, which helps slow down pigment production. It works more gradually but is a great option if you can’t get the prescription version or want something gentler for maintenance.

3. Being mindful of heat
Something a lot of people don’t realize is that heat can trigger melasma too. Things like saunas, hot yoga, or letting your face overheat in the sun can stimulate pigment. I try to keep my face protected and avoid prolonged heat exposure whenever I can.

Linked everything I use for my daily routine, skin flooding, and weekly skin stamping.

For skin flooding, I layer hydrating toners (use do about 2) + essences (about 3)on damp skin back to back immediately after washing my before my creams. The key is to lock in extreme hydration.

When I skin stamp, I rotate between Calecim and Biopelle. I do it once a week at a .25 depth. I only do one pass in each section. This is different than my deep 1x a month microneedling treatment. I do this so my growth factors can really penetrate. I replace the stamper after I use it about eight times. Make sure you sterilize the needles before and after

Out of all the beauty treatments I’ve tried, here are the 10 I would actually keep.

1. Fractionated CoolPeel
A gentle CO2 laser that resurfaces the skin and boosts collagen with minimal downtime—helps soften fine lines and improve texture.

2. Lip Lift
Shortens the space between the nose and lip, which makes the lips look fuller and the face more youthful.

3. Lip Filler (½ syringe every other year)
A small amount restores volume and smooths lip lines without looking overfilled.

4. Microneedling with PDGF (in office)
A deeper treatment that stimulates serious collagen production. PDGF growth factors help the skin repair thicker, healthier, and more youthful.

5. At-home microneedling
A more shallow treatment I do for maintenance between my in-office microneedling with PDGF to help keep collagen production going. I use the Dr. Pen M8 (can’t link) and the hyaluronic acid (the individually wrapped ones)for slip. I apply the calecim or biopelle 40 growth factors immediately after.

6. Skin stamping with growth factors
A gentle weekly treatment I do at .25 depth mainly to help my growth factors absorb better and keep my skin looking smooth and hydrated. I will use the calecim or biopelle

7. IPL (don’t forget chest + hands)
Targets sunspots, redness, and broken capillaries to make skin look clearer and more even.

8. Botox / Dysport
Relaxes the muscles that cause expression lines and helps prevent deeper wrinkles from forming.

9. Skin flooding
Layering hydrating products like toners and essences (I usually do 2 toners and 3 essences back to back morning and night)onto slightly damp skin to deeply saturate the skin with moisture.

10. Tretinoin
The gold standard for anti-aging—boosts collagen, speeds up cell turnover, and improves fine lines, texture, and overall skin quality. I use the la roche posay b5 balm as my final step when using tretinoin to help with irritation.

Micro-Needling (at home):
I use the Dr pen m8 pen (sadly I am not able to link it) with sterile cartridges on clean skin, work in small sections (I use the hyaluronic acid for slip) at a conservative depth, and then apply growth factors immediately after. I will either apply the Calecim or the Biopelle 40. Let the growth factors absorb for several minutes
then follow with a simple, fragrance-free, barrier cream like the Epii one. Prior to doing this though, I make sure there is no oil or makeup on my skin by cleaning it with a cotton pad and rubbing alcohol. I keep everything extremely sanitized and give my skin 4 weeks between sessions.

Skin Flooding:
This is just layering hydration on damp skin — I usually use about two hydrating toners, then about three essences— pressing each layer in before sealing it with a calming moisturizer so everything stays plump and glassy. I do this morning and night immediately after I wash my face.

I skin stamp once a week — which is different from the deeper micro-needling I do once a month. The weekly stamping is very shallow and gentle, mainly to lightly stimulate collagen and enhance product absorption, and I apply Calecim or Biopelle 50 right after. My monthly session is more intensive and focused on true collagen remodeling and longer-term results. (I use the titanium stamper that I linked for this)

Here’s the full breakdown of the 11 things that changed my face — with the exact products and treatments I use:
1. Lip lift — a subtle structural change that shortened my philtrum and softened my lower face. Made me look more feminine
2. Skin flooding — layering hydrating toners + essences to deeply support my barrier instead of constantly exfoliating.
3. Hormone optimization — I worked with my doctor to support what was naturally declining. This made a bigger difference than any topical ever could.
4. Tretinoin — I do my skin flooding first (toner + essences), then tretinoin — and I finish with a heavier layer of La Roche-Posay to seal it in. It keeps my barrier calm but I still get results.
5. Barrier repair — fewer actives at once, more intentional recovery.
6. Microneedling — consistent collagen stimulation over time. I use the Dr. Pen M8 7. Lasers 1–2x/year — resurfacing and pigment correction for maintenance, not panic.
8. Melasma — this is important.
The cream that completely changed it for me is Obagi Nu-Derm Blender #5. It requires a prescription, and you have to cycle it properly under a doctor’s supervision. It’s not something to use casually or long term without guidance.
I can’t link it here, but I’m linking a non-prescription option that contains arbutin, which is a gentler pigment-support ingredient.
9. LED therapy — consistent at-home red light for collagen support.
10. Injectables — I shifted away from chasing volume and focused more on collagen-stimulating treatments. And yes, continued use of Botox/dysport
11. Actives I don’t rotate weekly — vitamin C, growth factors, and copper peptides for daily collagen support. I use vitamin C in the morning. I’ll use growth factors with it, but I keep copper peptides for nighttime.

Liposomal vitamin C and glutathione help brighten skin, support collagen production, and protect against oxidative stress — and the liposomal form improves absorption so your body can actually use more of it.

I take these every morning. Except on the weekends, I do not take the vitamin C.

The reason being is because

•Gives your system a reset if you’re taking high doses daily (especially 1,000mg+).
•Reduces the chance of building tolerance to very high supplemental levels.
•Lets your body rely more on dietary vitamin C instead of constant high-dose input.

My nighttime routine. I’m really loving this LED mask. I do lots of research on these masks and this one seems to be the most powerful.

Omnilux stands out because it uses clinically proven red (633nm) and near-infrared (830nm) wavelengths at a strength that’s actually high enough to stimulate collagen — not just glow on your face. It’s FDA-cleared and designed based on medical-grade light therapy research, which a lot of cheaper LED masks can’t say. Basically, it’s built to perform like an in-office treatment you can use at home.

*Spraying a green toner (especially one rich in chlorophyll or antioxidants) before red light helps saturate the skin with compounds that can support neutralizing free radicals generated during treatment. Waiting about 15 minutes allows it to fully absorb so the light can penetrate properly without reflection or dilution from surface moisture.

A couple more things I didn’t mention. My vibration plate and my PEMF mat. In love with both

*my beauty, coffee consist of collagen, creatine, and silica-it supports collagen production, gut health, and connective tissue strength — helping skin look firmer, clearer, and more resilient from the inside out

*my “before coffee” health drink-packed with antioxidants (açaí, moringa, high-polyphenol olive oil), chlorophyll and chlorella for detox support, healthy fats (pumpkin seed + black seed oil) for hormone balance, colostrum for gut repair, and lemon + minerals for digestion — all working together to lower inflammation, support liver and gut health, and give you steadier energy and brighter skin

If we’re talking anti-aging — here’s how I rank it from least important → most important.

1. Skin Flooding (least important)
Amazing for hydration. Gives that immediate glow. Helps the barrier look plump and healthy.
But this is surface-level support.

2. Ingesting Collagen
Supports hydration, elasticity, joints, and connective tissue over time.
Helpful — but supportive, not transformational.

3. LED Light
Supports cellular energy and helps calm inflammation.
Great for recovery and tone with consistency.

4. Creatine
Supports lean muscle, strength, and recovery — which directly impacts how your body ages. More muscle = better metabolism and structure. It also supports brain energy and cognitive function. This isn’t just a gym supplement — it’s aging support.

5. Liposomal Glutathione + Vitamin C
Antioxidant support. Helps manage oxidative stress and supports collagen production from the inside out.

6. Cellular Health
Mitochondrial function. Inflammation control. Metabolic health.
When your cells function better, everything looks better.

7. Microneedling
Triggers your skin to rebuild.
Improves density + elasticity.
One of the biggest anti-aging shifts.

8. Lasers
Erases years of sun exposure.
Restores clarity and uniform tone.
This is visible age reversal.

9. Hormone Replacement Therapy (most important)
Hormones regulate collagen + skin health.
Decline impacts how you look and feel.
This changed everything for me.

My friend from high school was complaining about her hands being crepey and wrinkly. What I told her is that she needs micro needling. But you need to be consistent with it. Every four weeks you need to microneedle with the 11 pin head. I just buy them off of Amazon at a speed three. Apply this serum over your hands and microneedle it into your skin. Mix it with a hyaluronic acid, so it has enough slip. You never want the needles to drag. I use the Dr. Pen M8 but sadly, I cannot link it. I use the epii cream (apply last) for skin recovery and to heal my skin barrier
