I missed posting this on Mother’s Day and honestly I am not sorry about it because I was too busy living it.😁
This year Mother’s Day weekend looked exactly like what I needed it to look like. We went to see Crowns at Cape Fear Regional Theatre and the show was great. Sitting in that room with my family watching a story about faith, identity, and the women who carry both…this memory will be etched into my brain forever.🥰
Then we ate. Then my kids told me they were taking me to the movies. With their own money. Can I just sit with that for a second? They planned it. They paid for it. They chose to spend their money on their mom and I was not ready for how much that was going to hit me.🥹
And then Tyler drove us there.
Rich stayed home and got some much deserved rest and it was just me and my babies in that car with Tyler behind the wheel trying to act like his mom was not low key nervous and high key proud at the same exact time. 😂
I sat in that theater in the dark next to my kids thinking about how fast time moves and how grateful I am that God gave me front row seats to their lives. They are growing into people who show up for others. People who use their own money to make their mom feel special. People who drive their mom to the movies even if she white knuckles the door handle the whole way there (Nah he did amazing, definitely getting the hang of it). 😂💗
That is the gift. I don’t need a perfect Mother’s Day. I just need moments like these…loud, imperfect, full of laughter, and completely mine.
To every mom who also spent her weekend living instead of posting…I see you. Late post. Zero regrets. 😂💛

Prom season kinda snuck up on me 🤦🏾‍♀️ Tyler’s locs were in serious need of a retwist for a while. Like a good while, but I kept putting it off because retwisting locs is no joke on my fingers and I was holding off to see if Rich would pay somebody else to do it 🤣🤣. But prom was coming and I needed my Boog to be absolutely fresh when he walked out that door so I finally sat down and got to work. No more procrastinating. Prom said it was time. 😂

I needed a corner store fix and if you grew up in Jersey you know exactly what that means. The chicken and rice. The steam trays. The energy of a real corner store that just feels like home.
We pulled up to Fresh Deli here in Fayetteville and I was not expecting much because nothing is ever exactly like Jersey. But that chicken and rice? On point. And they had turkey ham available, and chopped cheese sandwiches which is not something you find everywhere and if you grew up eating it you understand why that detail matters. 😂

Can we normalize Monday morning errand runs when you work from home? 🥰
Rich and I both work from home and one of the things nobody tells you about that life is that you get to decide what your morning looks like. No commute. No rushing out the door with a granola bar and a prayer. 💯 Just you and your person and the whole morning ahead of you before the day begins.
So today we made our rounds. @wawa first because most mornings I am home making my own coffee like the responsible adult I am, but today felt like a treat kind of morning and the dragonfruit lemonade and cold brew were calling our names. No regrets‼️ Then we pulled up to @patesfarmmarket because they always have something good going on. Stocked up on the chicken special and then Rich spotted some purple potatoes and I watched his whole face light up. Those are going straight into a bucket in the garden. 😂
And me? I was not leaving without a slice of pound cake. That was never up for debate.
Here is what I really want you to take from this. We have full busy lives…Ministry. Business. Kids. Content. All of it running at the same time. But Rich and I have been intentional about not letting the busyness swallow the moments in between. A Monday morning errand run is not a big deal on paper. But doing it with your best friend and just being present before the day kicks in…that is everything‼️
Protect your ordinary moments y’all. Even the Monday ones. Especially the Monday ones. 🖤🌿

Every Sunday I stand beside my husband as he leads Echo Church and I love every single second of it. But I want to let you in on something that does not always make it to the highlight reel.
This right here… breakfast, notes on the table, talking through vision, calendars, ministry strategy, and everything in between, this is just as much a part of what we do as Sunday morning is. Maybe more. 💯
When God called Rich to plant Echo Church He did not just call him. He called us. And I made a decision early on that I was not going to be a spectator in my own assignment. I am not here to look cute in the front row and smile on cue. I am here to build. To pray. To plan. To push. To show up in every room where decisions are being made about what God is doing through this church‼️

Being a pastor’s wife is one of the greatest honors of my life. But it is also one of the most misunderstood roles in ministry. People see the Sunday. They do not always see the Saturday night conversations, the early morning strategy sessions over eggs and coffee, the moments where we are just two people trying to make sure we are being faithful to what God told us to do.🙏🏾
I share this because I know somebody reading this is sitting in a role where you feel more like a decoration than a decision maker. In your marriage. In your ministry. In your workplace. And I want you to know, you do not have to shrink to fit someone else’s idea of what your role should look like.
God did not call you to the background of someone else’s story. He called you to show up fully in your own.🙌🏽
So yes this is a breakfast date. It is also a staff meeting. And I would not have it any other way.
