You know all those novelty mugs in your cabinet collecting dust? Why not give them new life by drilling a drainage hole in the bottom and slipping a potted plant inside? I guarantee, they’ll get much more use than they’re currently getting, and you can switch them out as soon as the season ends.

For this task, I used a 5/16” diamond drill bit to create a single drainage hole in the bottom of this ceramic mug. This mug getting more use now than it ever has before!

I’m not one to chase trends, but if something catches my eye and piques my interest, I’ll likely give it a go.

I adore all the clear shoes on the market. They elongate the leg, and almost disappear when you’re wearing them. I want to give them a try, but which pair should I get?

Linen (or linen blend) pants are a great staple for summer. They’re cute, breezy, and an excellent alternative to wearing shorts. Pair them with tank tops, blouses, tees and jackets. They look good with so many pieces!

OH MY GOSH - the color of this dress IMMEDIATELY caught my eye, and I had to try it on. I love how the mannequin features the dress with a slim belt. I’d pair brown shoes and a bag that complements the belt. OR, if you choose to wear a white belt, pair it with white or clear shoes and a white bag. Good jewelry would look beautiful with the color of the dress. I’ve linked lots of options to pair with the dress below.

The size I tried on isn’t quite right, but I got a good idea of how the correct size would look on me. The straps are adjustable, so that helps customize the fit. The back panel of the dress is also stretchy. I’m wearing a size S but definitely needed to size down. I’d say the dress runs big.

The dress is 100% cotton (hooray for natural fibers), and has POCKETS. So bright and beautiful.

The sun is starting to peek out more in Chicago, but the temps vary drastically throughout the day. Layering will be my go-to concept until the weather catches up with the season. Plus, layering is such a great way to take your outfit up a notch.

I adore this oversized, corduroy button up top. Here, it’s serving as my outerwear over a lightweight sweater and bootcut jeans. The slim jeans help to balance the bulk of the oversized shirt.

This is the most romantic dress. It’s hard not to feel like royalty in it. High quality fabric and beautifully made. 97% cotton, 3% elastane.

This dress is KHAKI in color (although it looks white in photos).

I’m 5’4” and am wearing size 0 petite. The top of the dress is quite snug, so I would have preferred to size up.

This gorgeous dress is the perfect staple for your spring and summer closet. Beautiful, full skirt (twirl-worthy!) that hits at the ankle. Though it looks white in photos, it’s actually khaki in color. So versatile, and can be styled in so many different ways.

There are lots of handheld steamers out there, but my favorites are by Conair. This one takes about a minute to heat up and is very easy to store in your closet. Use a hand mitt to protect your free hand from the hot steam, while giving you a firm surface to easily steam out wrinkles.

Honorary mention for the Conair Handheld Garment Steamer (black steamer linked below), which has a few more features than the Conair Complete Steam Portable Steamer seen in this video. I’ve used both and am impressed with what they both can do.

Garment care

Lots of thought goes into those mannequins on display. Use them for inspiration as you look for similar pieces in your closet. Then, shop for any “holes” or missing items your wardrobe could use.

This is an easy way to keep your outfits current without having to spend any money. Look at how the mannequins in stores are styled. (This mannequin is @kohls ) You may already have similar pieces that you can style in similar ways. Lots of thought and effort go into the outfits on mannequins, so you can bet they’ll be on trend.

The outfit in this reel features a structured jacket, loose blouse, belt, denim shorts, and neutral summer sandals. You probably have many of these pieces, but draw inspiration from the mannequin when styling your pieces together. You can use that “formula” to pair together other pieces you own in different colors.

I’ve also linked my jacket (Z by Zella) if you’re interested. It’s still cold where I live and I love to throw it on over my clothes.

Quick, easy, and ZERO drying time required!

I’m not a fan of wearing fake nails, so this manicure set by Dashing Diva was right up my alley. They’re nail stickers that adhere to your nails and mimic a professional manicure. I only had a few minutes left before heading to a wedding the other day, and was able to knock this out in 10 minutes. Lots of colors and patterns to choose from!

In all 3 pictures, I’m wearing the same top (blue chambray top over a white tank). Notice how different the outfits feel with each pair of jeans. In my opinion, the tops pair best with a loose fit or relaxed jean, such as the pair in the center. There’s a good balance between the somewhat loose top and the loose jeans.

On the contrary, the other jeans feel unbalanced. The skinny jeans in the left are a bit too tight, and the wide leg jeans on the right feel too frumpy with the looser top. What are your thoughts?
