The sun is starting to peek out more in Chicago, but the temps vary drastically throughout the day. Layering will be my go-to concept until the weather catches up with the season. Plus, layering is such a great way to take your outfit up a notch.

I adore this oversized, corduroy button up top. Here, it’s serving as my outerwear over a lightweight sweater and bootcut jeans. The slim jeans help to balance the bulk of the oversized shirt.

I ADORE this sweet pink handbag. It’s the softest pink color, petite in size, and would be the perfect accent to your pink attire. Wear it as a cross body or hold it like a clutch.

This would be a great purse to wear to a wedding or special event, so it’s definitely got versatility.

Rewearing this gorgeous dress I bought back in October. The suede-like fabric is lush and beautiful, making it a great choice for the winter months.

Earlier in the season, I wore it with an open stitch cardigan. Today, I chose a pullover, making it look like a midi skirt. I love versatile pieces like this one. There’s so much potential to make it look different each time I wear it.

Tip: I used an elastic belt to tuck in the sweater, keeping it at my natural waist.

This would be a nice option for a lunch date or Valentine’s Day plans. I’d even consider wearing it to parent teacher conferences. It’s truly a beautiful piece.

Valentine’s Day

Fun story - Lindsey Lohan wore this coat in one of her Christmas movies, and when I saw it, I immediately went on a hunt to find it. She wore it in black, but I got it in camel (seen here) and deep green. I’ve already worn it several times this season (to parent teacher conferences, in particular) and will definitely be wearing it around Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Most people don’t think of outerwear as being part of an ensemble, but it can completely round out your look! This coat is perfect to top off your outfit on chilly fall days.

You know all those novelty mugs in your cabinet collecting dust? Why not give them new life by drilling a drainage hole in the bottom and slipping a potted plant inside? I guarantee, they’ll get much more use than they’re currently getting, and you can switch them out as soon as the season ends.

For this task, I used a 5/16” diamond drill bit to create a single drainage hole in the bottom of this ceramic mug. This mug getting more use now than it ever has before!

In need of a nice (and inexpensive) pot for your indoor plants? Look for a plastic tumbler in a color and style you like. I used a pointed, metal skewer to burn a drainage hole into the bottom of the cup and popped my plant right in. DIY can be fun! Give it a go.

I have an annoying problem - the cement slabs in my driveway aren’t level. Of course, that has to be the exact spot my planter needs to sit. It’s bothered me for years.

But recently I came across these little stackable wedges for pots. They’re meant to lift pots off the ground for better drainage and evaporation on decks, but it was perfect for leveling my pot! Now I need to buy a whole bunch for the pots on my deck.

Date night in the city calls for a special outfit, and this rust colored midi dress was perfection! The weather was still warm, so I paired it with an off white denim jacket (Kohls), suede heels (Toms Majorca Pump), and a suede bag (Mango). Too much suede? Not for me!
