Cala Lane ✨ This is my family in a mood board on a wall…. It’s still a work in progress… but so far this is what I have…. Emotional explanation of this wall coming…… 🤷‍♀️🙏 I’ll start at the top: the Cala Lane sign is indeed a real street sign that was the name of the street my grandparents lived on. After the Lord called them both home, I no longer felt a sense of “home” so to speak…. Which is a huge can to unload…. but last year for my 32nd bday I saw Lainey Wilson at the Charleston civic center (which is where I went to my first concert with my mama Bonnie and mom to see Toby Keith 🤠) and then we drove by my grandparents house and just pulled up on the corner of the street and I had my boyfriend jump up and hit it down with a hammer- I was the lookout… decked out in concert attire on the street corner in the holler of Alum Creek, West Virginia. Next is mama’s quilt rack, that I painted with annie sloane paint, it was originally a light brown color but I wanted it to pop against the dark wall so I gave her a glam up. All of the quilts were made by either mama or my great grandmother. - The banjo resting on the quilt rack is my papa Bobs. He not only played the banjo but he also loved bluegrass music. I can still hear and see him sitting around the kitchen table playing cards with me singing along (terribly but full of spirit). I also hear him singing along in the car, while he taught me how to drive in the Alum Creek church of Christ parking lot and him being silly letting his teeth pop out while giving instructions. (Middle right is a wooden WV state sign with “the Meikle’s” etched on it. ) - Papa Kenneth’s songs of the church hym books. He was a song leader at the church of Christ. So him walking around singing hymns was the typical. Sunday mornings listening to him go through what he was going to sing while I got ready…”Cala what would you like to sing today…” Family trinkets on table: His harmonica and her vanity mirror she kept her perfume on 🎶 Things im adding: papa Kenneth’s guitar, his fiddle, mama’s Bible.
