It’s 1am and your little one spikes a fever or breaks out in a rash. What do you do? Call your pediatrician, of course! And they tell you to give a calculated dosage of infant Tylenol or dye free liquid Benadryl. Now what? Run to the store? No, you dip into your ‘be prepared’ stash and you have exactly what you need to handle the situation! All of these items are things that I have used many many times since having my son. We checked with our pediatrician first to make sure everything was safe and being used within the right dosage, and It makes me feel better knowing that we are fully stocked to handle the unexpected. I really like the Little Remedies brand because it contains everything that they need and nothing that they don’t. I also have found it to be gentler than other brands but still be just as effective. For skin we have found the winning ticket for everything from skin rashes, to sunburn, to diaper rash has been breastmilk (yes, really!), Aquaphor, and Tubby Todd’s all over ointment. Any skin ailment we’ve come across as healed up in a matter of two or three days when using this alternating regimen! We also use Desitin on the bum for daily defense against diaper rashes before bedtime. Some kiddos need diaper cream more often, but that’s what works for us! We also love the gentleness and efficacy of the fragrance free Mustela lotions, washes, and water-less cleanser (for those in between bath days!). For tummy health it’s really important to get started on a probiotic and a vitamin D supplement (if breastfeeding). We used Evivo as soon as we got home from the hospital up until he was six months old. It is a live culture probiotic that you mix with breastmilk or formula and give daily to Maintain good gut health and help with proper absorption.
