What to Know Before Visiting the Acropolis in Athens

The Acropolis is one of the most iconic landmarks in the world. Walking through this historic site feels surreal, with ancient ruins surrounding you and views of the entire city stretching in every direction. The history is incredible and the views are breathtaking, but be prepared for crowds and a lot of walking.

One thing I did not expect was how windy it gets at the top. Do not wear loose clothing unless you want to fight with it the entire time. Comfortable shoes are also a must because of the stairs and uneven stone pathways. I wore my Hokas and they saved me. They gave me the comfort and support I needed to spend hours exploring while still giving me that little height boost from the platform style.

If you are planning a trip to Athens, the Acropolis is a must see. Just be prepared with the right outfit and the right shoes so you can fully enjoy the experience without worrying about sore feet or flying skirts.

Summer Is Still Summering at Crystal Cove Beach

Summer isn’t over yet, and one of my favorite ways to soak it up is with a beach day at Crystal Cove. It always feels a little more adventurous here. You walk through a tunnel to get to the beach, which somehow makes it feel like a hidden gem every single time.

What I love most is that you have options. There’s a great restaurant and bar right on the sand if you want to grab food and a drink, or you can pack your own and picnic, which is what I did. I brought my black and white striped cooler that doubles as a beach tote, and my foldable black and white beach mat for lounging. Both are practical but still give that pulled-together summer look. White flip flops completed the look and were perfect for walking across the sand and up to the Shake Shack later.

Toward the end of the day, walked up the hill to grab a burger and milkshake from the Shake Shack and caught the most perfect view of the sunset. Crystal Cove really gives you the best of both worlds - beach, bites, and a view to end the day.
