The work of teaching my children to take in and process ideas for themselves had an unexpected benefit. Self education is a core value of a Charlotte Mason education, and it is essentially doing the work of feeding your mind for nourishment. The perk I never saw coming was the lesson in this for myself. More than anything or anyone, my children watch me. They observe what I consume physically and mentally, and how I choose to spend my time. Homeschooling has provided me with opportunity for and awareness of discipline in ensuring my own nourishment. That could sound like work, and on many days it is, but I like to think of it as a work perk. charlottemasoninspired homeschoolmom motherculture dailygraceco generationscurriculum passionatepennypincher
