My 85-year-old daddy hasn’t left the house much lately. But yesterday, he did. He sat in the sun, breathed the air, and fished — just like he used to. My mom was just out of frame. My daughter was beside me. My granddaughter was barefoot on the dock, completely unbothered by all the love surrounding her. That’s the thing about Southern living nobody puts on a highlight reel — it’s not the big moments. It’s the ones you almost missed. The ones where everybody just shows up. That’s Mother’s Day to me.
