This was a great way to start off spooky season! It was such a fun one! Many thanks to @netgalley and @poisonedpenpress for my gifted arc all opinions are my own.

Hannah is grieving her late fiancé so when her friend suggests they go on a healing retreat she thinks what could possibly be worse than the grief she feels everyday? Well let’s let the healing tech-free retreat in California enter the group chat.

What Hannah thought would be a healing weekend turns out to be a slasher movie in front of her eyes. As time goes on Hannah comes to the conclusion that this retreat is clearly not a safe place but instead a living nightmare.

I really enjoyed being inside Hannah’s head. She is a complicated character in the best way. I definitely recommend this one! I did figure out the twist pretty early on but I think a lot of readers will be stumped!

Another great FBI thriller read by John R Dingle! This was the second book in his Gus Wheeler series and I really enjoyed it! The story and familiar characters from the first book “Karma Never Sleeps” had me hooked from the beginning and totally immersed me in the story.

I absolutely love police procedurals and psychological thrillers and this was the perfect mix of both of those things! I loved going through the FBI tactics with the characters and also feeling like I was losing my mind with the psychological cat and mouse game in the other character’s mind at the same time. It was the best of both worlds of being in the suspect’s brain and the FBI agent’s brain.

Many thanks to John R Dingle for my gifted copy all opinions are my own. I can’t wait to continue this series. The first two books in the series are a testament that Dingle will be an author to watch for as he will become one of your favorite FBI thriller writers. This is what a thriller series is all about!

I won this arc in a giveaways months ago and finally picked it up! I am glad I did!

This was an entertaining thriller read. I did figure a lot of it out but was still surprised by certain things in the end. A little of it towards the end seemed a bit far fetched to me but then I reminded myself it is fiction!

I enjoyed the cat and mouse game between all of the characters and I’m glad we got different POV’s from each of the main characters.

Sloane is a pathological liar and a good one at that. One day in the park she meets Jay and his daughter Harper. Her and Jay share an innocent but captivating moment and Sloane realizes she wants to immerse herself in their lives. Jay is married to Violet, Harper’s mother. Jay decides to introduce the two women in hopes they’ll become friends. Sooner rather than later Sloane becomes the family’s new nanny and gets herself into a tangled web of lies even she has a hard time getting out of.

A domestic twisty thriller done right that will keep you on your toes.

What Happened to the McCrays // Tracey Lange - I chose this as a BOTM add on months ago and I really want to prioritize it because I’ve heard amazing things.

Broken Country // Clare Leslie Hall - I have had serious fomo over not reading this one yet everyone has been raving about it!

A slow burning thriller that ended up packing quite the punch in the end. At times I felt like this was a bit dragged on more than it needed to be but the last quarter of the book made up for any of those feelings throughout reading the rest of it. I knew the book would be mysterious but it ended up being even more disturbing than I had anticipated. This was the epitome of a psychological thriller. It made me feel uneasy and uncomfortable as a reader in the mind of our main character and narrator. I really liked how the author wove a twisted web and kept me on my toes until the very last page. This book covers a lot of topics that are very important and by writing this book I felt like the author did her job of casting some light on topics a lot of women and mothers don’t typically speak about.

Many thanks to @atriabooks for the gifted physical copy of Fifty Fifty by Steve Cavanagh and to @netgalley for the gifted kindle copy. I enjoyed reading on both formats. All opinions are my own.

This was really good! It kept me guessing and had me stumped for a bit there. I love a book where you feel you can’t trust anyone and your mind changes 10 different times deciding the whodunnit of it all. The title was so fitting for this book because I too felt a fifty fifty split of who the culprit was.

A father murdered and his two daughters on trial for his murder. When the murder took place in his home a man Frank Avelino’s two daughters Sofia and Alexandra each called 911 from the home accusing the other of brutally murdering their father.

I love a procedural / legal thriller. I enjoyed seeing both of the lawyers points of views and how the case was built for each sister. It can go either way. Fifty fifty which daughter is it?

QOTD: what is something that you’re 50/50 on? Something you can take or leave I’ll go first…sour cream I don’t love it or hate it lol

A slow burning mystery/thriller that is a perfect way to transition from the summer to the fall!

Halley James knows her marriage is about to be over and though she has accepted it she did not realize the rest of her life would begin to crumble too.

She just lost her job at the forensics lab. Her dad needs emergency surgery. But the biggest blow comes back home in Marchburg, Virginia, where she discovers her mother didn’t actually die in a car crash. Her mom was murdered―and her father lied about it all these years.

Since she was a little girl, it’s been Halley and her dad. Now, she doesn’t know what to believe. Desperate for the truth, Halley chases down a lead in Brockville, Tennessee. But all there is not as it seems. Brockville’s utopian charm hides a chilling darkness. And Halley’s search for answers threatens to expose an unspeakable reality.

I enjoyed the back and forth of this book. It kept me guessing until the end. It was winding, twisty, and unpredictable. It is out now so be sure to add it to your end of summer / beginning of fall tbr!
