If you are feeling overwhelmed with your homemaking, this is the exact cleaning system I use to help me not feel like I am overwhelmed or have to clean every day.

I follow a 3 weekly cleaning system where I focus on deep cleaning 1 zone each week (I have split our home into 3 zones), and this has helped me not feel overwhelmed with my homemaking on a weekly basis.

Since using this system I don’t feel like I actually clean that much each week, which is a huge win for me because I don’t like to clean.

Typically each week I do a Monday reset which takes me about 30-60 minutes, then I do a deep clean in one zone which usually takes around 60 minutes, and then on Friday’s I will do a quick run of the sweeper as needed.

Of course, on a daily basis we are doing a closing shift and cleaning up after ourselves.

Using this 3 week cleaning system along with the weekly resets has been such a game changer. 🤗

I’ve tried a couple morning routines now since school is out, and we are still figuring it out.

Something I want to keep working on is to give myself a routine, but not be so maried
to it that I feel like a failure if I don’t follow the routine exactly.

I love having my balanced homemaking system I follow each week, but I also don’t allow myself to be so married to it that it doesn’t allow any flexibility.

The thing I love most about having a cleaning schedule I follow is that it takes a lot of the mental load for me.

I don’t have to wake up on Monday morning and figure out what all needs to be done today, I simply look at my list and decide how many of the things need done.

And honestly, the weeks like this week where I actually don’t have to do more than 2-3 things on my list, are my fav. 😂☺️

I finally feel like I am getting into my summer routine a bit more and it’s been really nice.

I am giving myself plenty of grace though because I want to just enjoy the break as much as possible.

Before we know it school will be starting again and I will be forces to wake up early every day, so sleeping in a couple mornings a week will be tolerated. 😂

Anyways, garage sale starts tomorrow and I am ready for it to come and go again. I have been thinking about and planning for this for literal MONTHS.😏

I need to know, what does your morning routine look like during the summer?

I am trying to decide if I want to wake up early and try to workout & do some work before my kids wake up, or just not do a morning routine.

I think ideally I would wake up at 5 and do a 20 minute walk, then work on content for an hour or two until my kids wake up.

I think I’m just scared that in my head this sounds amazing, but the execution won’t be there. 😵‍💫🫣

You want a clean & tidy house without cleaning ALL the time?🤭

Here’s my balanced homemaking routine:
- Monday we do a house reset
- Tuesday or Wednesday we clean one area of our house(I have a 3 week cleaning schedule I follow.)
- Friday we do a tiny reset just to prep for the weekend.

This system has really helped me to not feel like I am cleaning every single day. Realistically the resets take 30 minutes give or take, and the weekly cleaning takes 30-90 minutes depending on the area I am cleaning that week.

Do any other moms just struggle with the evenings?

I feel like we have pretty good evening routines, but I am usually just wanting to tap out by 6 pm. 😏

I do have a hard time actually resting during the day because I always have things I can do, but maybe I need to go back to the nap time schedule we used to have and just force myself to rest for 30 minutes or so.

Having a solids routine for our homemaking is so helpful & keeps us from getting overwhelmed as easily.

But, I don’t think that we have to stick to it 100% of the time. The best part of having a good system is that it allows us to take breaks and not feel we are running behind immediately. 👏🏼
