In Buddhist tradition, the lotus flower represents the Buddha’s birth and the journey towards enlightenment. It signifies rising above desires and negative influences, just as the flower rises above the water. The lotus flower is a profound symbol of purity, rebirth, resilience, and spiritual enlightenment. Because it rises unstained from muddy, murky water to bloom beautifully, it represents the human soul’s ability to transcend worldly suffering and achieve purity of mind and spirit 🪷

In these photos I’m practicing Falun Dafa, an ancient Chinese meditation & cultivation practice that I’ve been practicing since 2006. The meditation exercises make my body feel relaxed and calm, and in combination with following Falun Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance, it helps me handle the challenges of everyday life better and to become a better version of myself 🪷

As a mom of 4 children ranging from age 1 to 13 I’d like to share with you this little text which makes me cherish motherhood so much more. It makes me more aware of how fast time goes and to not be too focused on having everything perfect. It goes like this:

One day, they stop running to you first thing in the morning. The sound of little footsteps in the hallway, that hug in your bed... slowly fades into silence and a closed bedroom door.

They stop saying, “Mom, Dad, look!” They don’t run to you anymore to show every little rock or every drawing. Slowly, their world becomes quieter... and more their own.

One day, they stop holding your hand when you walk. And suddenly, you feel that emptiness. Not because the love is gone... but because they’re growing up.

One day, they stop falling asleep in your arms. That little head on your shoulder, the sound of their breathing slowing down... these are moments that end without warning.

At some point, they stop believing your kiss can fix everything. Once, a bandage was enough. Then the deepest wounds start hiding in music and in silence... no longer in your arms.

They stop bringing you their little “treasures.’ Leaves, pieces of paper, tiny finds. That pure, spontaneous love... just becomes less.

Childhood isn’t a rehearsal. It’s happening right now. And while they still ask to be held and call for you all day... cherish every moment. One day, these moments will become just memories ♥️

At the 300 year old farm of my lovely grandparents 🤍 Even though they went to Heaven several years ago, I still visit their farm every time I go to Belgium. They had 9 children and worked so hard their entire life, had to take care of lots of cows, donkeys and other animals, their own vegetable garden, large corn fields, and then my grandma still had to cook from scratch every day, she made everything by herself, wash everything by hand, and knitted for all her children. I can’t believe how my grandparents did all this! I find raising my 4 children really hard and tiring already, but they had 9! I’m really inspired by them. I wish they were still here. There are so many things I’d like to ask them and learn from them ♥️
