This bathroom needed a lot more than a refresh—it needed a complete renovation.

The before photos are almost hard to believe. There was carpet, a cramped layout, dated finishes, and two built-in wood vanities. We love a wood vanity, but these weren’t doing the space any favors. 😅

We reworked the layout, updated the materials, and gave this bathroom a whole new identity. The result is a functional space with maximized storage, durable materials, and a lot more personality.

We’ve shared this bathroom quite a bit because it’s such a beautiful transformation, but I always love going back to the original and showing just how different the space looked before we stepped in.

Rug shopping can get overwhelming fast. There are endless styles, colors, textures, and sizes to compare. But the amount of wear and tear a rug will receive should play a big role in how you choose.

A high-traffic area isn’t where you want to splurge on a delicate rug, so look for something washable, durable, or affordable enough to replace. You don’t have to spend a fortune to get a beautiful rug—many of the options in this comparison are from Amazon and Target.

This transformation was about more than just updating the room—it was about giving the room a sense of purpose.

By defining the living and dining zones, adding focal points, and creating a cohesive design throughout, we gave the space the direction it was missing while still making it feel warm, personal, and inviting.

What was once a challenging layout is now a beautiful setting designed around how our clients actually live and gather.

Because this dining and living area share one space, we wanted them to feel connected without looking identical. The coordinating color palette, hardware finish, window treatments, and styling helped establish that connection, but the plaid wall was where we had a little more fun.

We wanted the dining room accent wall to feel less expected, and plaid felt like a natural fit for the farmhouse style. We then mirrored the same treatment above the fireplace, creating a visual thread between the two areas while giving each one its own character.

Seasonal styling doesn’t have to mean decorating for the holidays.

A room can feel warm and cozy in the fall or light and fresh in the spring through the colors, art, stems, candles, and other details you bring into the space. It’s those subtle shifts that make a room reflect the time of year without looking themed.

We love a guest bath because it’s the perfect place to have a little fun—try the wallpaper, play with pattern, or take a color somewhere you wouldn’t in a larger space. It’s a small room with a door, so you can take a creative risk without committing the whole house. Our advice? Take full advantage of it.

My love-hate relationship with wallpaper is real, and this project demanded a serious level of precision and focus.

Transforming a room with a bold pattern is always a labor of love, but the stunning final reveal makes all the hard work completely worth it.

While this exact "Vintage Floral" mural isn't available to link directly on LTK, I have linked comparable floral patterns that offer a similar aesthetic.

Chandeliers, pendants, sconces and flush mounts each have their own strengths, and the best choice depends on what you want your lighting to accomplish.

Chandeliers can add visual weight and become a focal point. Pendants provide more concentrated light and work beautifully as a single fixture or in a grouping. Sconces add a layer of light while also bringing interest to the walls. Flush mounts offer overhead illumination, and many also provide ventilation or airflow.

Purpose & Placement: One fixture can only illuminate so much, so the size and use of the space may determine whether you need one, two, or even three lights.

Proportion & Height: A fixture should feel appropriately scaled to the space—not overwhelm or get lost within it. Clearance is essential when a fixture is over a walkway, but over a table you have more flexibility.

The right fixture can change the way an entire space feels.

These built-in, lighted cubbies turn an overlooked wall into a beautiful display with a purpose—keeping everyday items within reach while making room for the decorative details, too.

And those hanging planters? One of our favorite ways to add a little greenery and interest without giving up an inch of floor or counter space.

A design style should be a starting point, not a set of rules. Even within French Country, there are countless ways to interpret, evolve, and make it your own.

We like to think of it as sisters, not twins. Spaces should feel connected, but they don’t need to be identical. A consistent hardware finish, a recurring pattern, or a cohesive color palette can create continuity, while individual materials, proportions, colors, and details give each space its own personality.

And yes, that includes going bold. A moody powder bath or unexpected color can absolutely work within a French Country home when it feels connected to the spaces around it.

The goal isn’t matching. It’s creating a home where every space feels related, not replicated.

Island stools may be small in the scheme of a kitchen, but they can have a big impact. Island seating can echo the architecture, introduce a new texture, or become the unexpected statement that makes the space feel finished.

An easy formula for a well-styled console.

Start with a backdrop, like a mirror, artwork, or gallery frames. Add layers by stacking smaller items together, then vary the heights across the table with a lamp, candle holders, or pottery.

Bring in a botanical for a little life and texture. Then, if space allows, add a basket or ottoman underneath for extra storage and function.
